Commerce Partnerships Writer
People Inc. is looking for a writer to support the Partnerships News & Deals team to cover timely travel, fashion, and lifestyle-related shopping content on celebrities, trends, reviews, and more for PEOPLE and InStyle. We're looking for someone who can cover everything from single-product features to sale roundups and spot customer-loved pieces, seasonal and trending items, and more. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is passionate about and has experience with commerce-focused stories, can create quality content, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Assignment Details:
This is a 40-hour/week contract position with a rate of $32/hour beginning as soon as the right candidate is able. The contract duration is 6 months with the potential to extend. Writers must be based in the U.S. in EST and be comfortable working remotely or near the People Inc. office in New York City.
Assignment Responsibilities:
  • Pitch and write two shopping articles per day, averaging 8 to 10 per week
  • Identify and carry out commerce content opportunities within various lifestyle categories including fashion, travel, and beauty, specific to PEOPLE and InStyle
  • Write and update stories for commerce tentpoles like Black Friday and Prime Day with the flexibility to contribute to team goals off hours during these events
  • Work across various edit goals with different KPIs and content strategies
  • Use data and analytics to brainstorm and guide content decisions
  • Collaborate closely with numerous writers and editors both on and outside of the Partnerships Vertical
  • Monitor social media (TikTok, Instagram, etc.) for commerce opportunities, including viral products and celebrity mentions
  • Build, edit, and update content within the CMS
  • Reach out to high-quality experts to provide background information and quotes as needed.

Skills/Experience:
  • A commerce writer with at least 2+ years of experience
  • Passionate about and/or knowledgeable of the lifestyle commerce space and enthusiastic about finding the best products out there
  • Experience covering tentpole shopping holidays like Black Friday and Prime Day
  • Detail-oriented and deadline-focused
  • Experienced in executing SEO best practices
  • A strong writer capable of creating engaging, lively headlines and working across several priorities at a time, all while keeping the brand voice, values, and style in mind
  • A self-starter who can pivot seamlessly as new initiatives and priorities are identified
