Job description

Position summary

We are a growing beauty supply retail brand seeking a Web Designer & Web Developer to own our online presence. This role will design, build, and optimize our e‑commerce website and landing pages, using AI tools to speed up content creation, testing, and personalization. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of experience in web design/development and a strong interest or background in beauty, hair, or cosmetics.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and develop responsive website pages (home, category, product, blog, and landing pages) that reflect our beauty brand and drive online sales.
  • Build and maintain the site using our chosen platform (e.g., Shopify, WooCommerce, or similar), including themes, templates, and custom sections.
  • Use AI tools (for example: AI copy assistants, image generators, A/B‑testing or personalization tools) to create and refine layouts, visuals, and product content more efficiently.
  • Optimize user experience (UX) and customer journey for both desktop and mobile: navigation, search, product discovery, checkout flow, and page speed.
  • Implement and maintain basic SEO best practices (metadata, headings, internal links, image alt text, structured content).
  • Collaborate with marketing to design campaign landing pages, email capture flows, and promotional banners for new product launches and sales.
  • Track key metrics (traffic, conversion rate, bounce rate, cart abandonment) and propose UX or design improvements based on data.
  • Ensure site security, basic QA testing, and troubleshooting of bugs, broken links, and layout issues.

Required qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience in web design and front‑end development for e‑commerce or consumer brands.
  • Strong portfolio showing e‑commerce work (preferably beauty, fashion, or lifestyle) including product/category pages and landing pages.
  • Proficiency in front‑end technologies: HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript; experience customizing themes on a major e‑commerce platform (Shopify Liquid, WooCommerce/WordPress, or similar).
  • Skilled in a modern design tool (Figma, Adobe XD, or similar) and basic graphics editing (Photoshop, Illustrator, or Canva).
  • Practical experience using AI tools in your workflow (e.g., generating draft copy, resizing or enhancing images, creating variations, or running experiments/personalization).
  • Strong understanding of responsive design, UX best practices, and cross‑browser compatibility.
  • Ability to manage projects end‑to‑end: from brief and wireframe to launch and iteration.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working with beauty, hair, skincare, or cosmetics brands and understanding how beauty customers shop online.
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms and integrating signup forms, pop‑ups, and automations into the site.
  • Basic knowledge of analytics tools (Google Analytics, Shopify analytics, or similar) and A/B testing tools.
  • Understanding of basic SEO strategy for product pages and content (keywords, on‑page optimization, and blog structure).
