POSITION OVERVIEW


BDC is the only bank dedicated exclusively to Canadian entrepreneurs. As a Senior Manager, Portfolio Management, you will support the ongoing management of the Bank's loan portfolio by processing service requests and annual reviews throughout the loan lifecycle. You will analyze complex credit and portfolio matters, recommend solutions that meet client needs, and ensure alignment with BDC policies, processes, and risk standards. Your work contributes directly to the success of Canadian businesses.


CHALLENGES TO BE MET


  • Manage outstanding file-related requirements in accordance with BDC audit policies, processes, and procedures by ensuring documentation is complete, conditions are satisfied, required information is accurate, and signatures are obtained.
  • Complete annual portfolio reviews by assessing portfolio profitability, monitoring client borrowing activity, identifying financing or consulting opportunities, and supporting client retention.
  • Review financial statements, perform financial analysis, and assess client risk ratings.
  • Identify and actively manage potential risk situations, including payment arrears, deteriorating risk profiles, and declining financial performance.
  • Evaluate complex and high-risk service requests and recommend appropriate solutions, including restructuring agreements to minimize risk and mitigate potential losses.
  • Authorize, decline, or recommend loan amendments and service requests within established approval authorities while maintaining high standards of analysis and due diligence.
  • Collaborate with Credit, Business Development teams, business centres, and other internal stakeholders to deliver effective client solutions and ensure consistent application of policies.
  • Coach, mentor, and share expertise with team members to support team effectiveness.
  • Monitor regional economic trends and assess potential impacts on BDC clients and portfolio performance.
  • Remain current on changes to banking policies, procedures, detailed processes, credit practices, and regulatory requirements that may affect BDC.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR


Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as an Account Manager in the banking sector.
  • Knowledge of banking products, services, policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Experience reviewing financial statements and conducting financial analysis.
  • Ability to evaluate complex financial structures.
  • Experience assessing credit risk and/or risk ratings.
  • Ability to identify issues, exercise sound judgment, and implement proactive solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated adaptability in a changing business environment.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Bilingualism in French and English.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience completing annual portfolio reviews of commercial lending relationships.
  • Experience with loan servicing, loan amendments, or credit restructuring activities.
  • Experience managing high-risk credit or portfolio situations.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring colleagues.
  • Knowledge of regional economic conditions and their impact on commercial clients.
