About the Team:
Medidata is seeking a high-impact, strategic, and execution-oriented Head of Business Operations and Transformation. This is a pivotal leadership role designed to bridge the gap between high-level strategy and enterprise-scale operational excellence.
We are looking for a leader with large scale operations and transformation experience who has successfully navigated the complexities of large-scale organizations. You will be the "engine room" of the organization, responsible for orchestrating a cross-functional, AI-augmented transformation strategy. This is a hands-on execution role; you won't just be designing the slides-you will be in the trenches, partnering with IT, HR, and Finance to build the systems and cultures that ensure Medidata remains agile and hyper-focused on execution.
Responsibilities:
1. Enterprise Transformation & AI Integration
  • Strategic Roadmap: Design and lead a multi-year, cross-functional transformation roadmap that modernizes internal workflows and GTM execution.
  • AI-Driven Evolution: Identify and implement opportunities to leverage Generative AI and Machine Learning to automate legacy processes, enhance predictive analytics, and drive significant productivity gains.
  • Operational Modernization: Transition the organization from rigid legacy processes to a high-velocity, AI-enabled operating model.
2. Tactical Execution & Cross-Functional Partnership
  • IT Partnership: Work hand-in-hand with the IT organization to select, deploy, and optimize the tech stack required to support an AI-driven business.
  • HR Alignment: Partner with People Team leaders to redefine organizational design, upskill talent for the AI era, and manage the cultural shifts inherent in large-scale transformation.
  • Finance Integration: Collaborate with Finance to ensure transformation initiatives are tied to rigorous ROI models, budgeting cycles, and long-term financial planning.
  • Hands-on Problem Solving: Actively dive into "trouble spots" in the business to troubleshoot bottlenecks and personally drive remediation workstreams.
3. Performance Management
  • Metric Synthesis: Define and track "North Star" operational metrics through sophisticated, real-time executive dashboards.
  • Standardization: Lead the OKR framework across the global enterprise, ensuring every team's goals roll up to Medidata's primary strategic pillars.
  • Decision Science: Act as a force multiplier for the COO, ensuring the "connective tissue" of the organization facilitates rapid, evidence-based decision-making.
Qualifications:
  • Consulting Pedigree: 10+ years of experience, including significant tenure at a top-tier management consulting firm (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, Bain) or an equivalent internal transformation role within a global Enterprise SaaS environment.
  • "Player-Coach" Mentality: You possess the executive presence to command a boardroom and the technical grit to dive into the details of a process map or a data model. You are energized by driving execution, not just overseeing it.
  • The "Complex Systems" Navigator: Proven track record of operating within large, multi-layered organizations. You understand how to drive consensus and implement change across thousands of employees.
  • AI Practitioner: You are a champion for the use of AI and automation to disrupt traditional cost structures and accelerate business velocity.
  • Quantitative Mastery: Deep expertise in business intelligence and financial modeling. You provide the "so what" behind the data, translating complex telemetry into a compelling narrative for the Board and ELT.
The salary range posted below refers only to positions that will be physically based in New York City. As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location. Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses. Medidata believes that benefits should connect you to the support you need when it matters most and provides benefits, including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401(k) matching, family leave, flexible paid time off; and 10 paid holidays per year.
Note: Please be on the lookout for job scams. Medidata recruiters will never ask applicants for monetary compensation, credit card, or banking details.
Equal Employment Opportunity:
In order to provide equal employment and advancement opportunities to all individuals, employment decisions at Medidata are based on merit, qualifications and abilities. Medidata is committed to a policy of non-discrimination and equal opportunity for all employees and qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth or medical or common conditions related to pregnancy or childbirth), sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, familial status, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, veteran status, military service, application for military service, genetic information, receipt of free medical care, or any other characteristic protected under applicable law. Medidata will make reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with known disabilities, in accordance with applicable law.
We will accept applications on an ongoing basis until we fill the position.
