Who You Are
The Test Technician - Battery Testing is responsible for conducting performance, safety, reliability, and environmental testing on batteries and battery-powered systems. This role supports engineering and product development teams by setting up test equipment, executing test plans, collecting and analyzing data, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining a safe laboratory environment. The technician ensures that all testing is performed according to established procedures, industry standards, and quality requirements.
What You'll Do
  • Set up, operate, and monitor battery testing equipment and data acquisition systems.
  • Perform electrical, environmental, mechanical, and lifecycle testing on batteries, battery packs, and energy storage systems.
  • Execute test procedures according to engineering specifications and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Record, organize, and maintain accurate test data and documentation.
  • Analyze test results and prepare reports summarizing findings and observations.
  • Troubleshoot test equipment, fixtures, instrumentation, and battery systems.
  • Perform battery characterization, charge/discharge cycling, capacity testing, and performance validation.
  • Monitor battery safety during testing and respond appropriately to abnormal conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and applicable industry standards.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment and testing instruments.
  • Support root cause investigations of battery failures and performance issues.
  • Collaborate with engineers, quality personnel, and project teams to meet testing objectives.
  • Maintain test logs, inventory, and laboratory organization.

What You Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 2+ years of experience in laboratory testing, battery testing, electronics testing, or related technical work.
  • Knowledge of battery technologies such as Lithium-Ion.
  • Experience using electrical test equipment including:
    • Multimeters
    • Power supplies
    • Data acquisition systems
    • Battery cyclers
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and test procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
