Engineering Lab - Test Engineer

A challenging opportunity is available at VERSA for an innovative engineer, with an education and 3-5 years of engineering lab experience for a hands-on Engineering Lab - Test Engineer which supports product development and validation within our engineering lab. This role is ideal for an individual who thrives in a practical, test-driven environment and enjoys working closely with engineers and designers on real-world applications. The position involves extensive lab testing, prototype development, and collaboration across multiple departments to support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Summary of essential job functions:

Perform project-based testing in the Engineering Lab and prepare clear, detailed lab reports.

Develop and execute test plans for product qualification and acceptance testing.

Participate in R&D activities, supporting the development of new products and enhancements to existing products.

Work closely with Engineers and Designers on lab-based project work and validation efforts.

Build and assemble prototypes and conduct testing to evaluate performance and reliability.

Collaborate cross-functionally with Purchasing, Sales, Quality Control, and Manufacturing.

Assist the Assembly Department in troubleshooting and resolving technical production issues as needed.

Maintain accurate documentation of test results, procedures, and findings.

Support continuous improvement initiatives related to product performance, quality, and cost.

Qualifications / Skills:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) with 3+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment. Fluid Power industry a plus.

Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.)

Hands-on experience using common laboratory instruments, including but not limited to oscilloscopes, multimeters, flow meters, calipers and precision measurement tools.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Effective verbal and written skills.
