What are basketball statistics?

Basketball statistics are numerical measures that track and analyze player and team performance during games. These stats include points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, shooting percentages, turnovers, and more. Coaches, analysts, and fans use these statistics to evaluate players, develop strategies, and understand the flow of the game. Advanced statistics, like Player Efficiency Rating (PER) and true shooting percentage, provide deeper insights into a player's contributions beyond basic numbers.
