Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
With the guidance and direction of the Program Director, the Referee administers the policies and procedures of all basketball programs relating to youth, teen, adult, and active older adult. He/she will uphold the employee code of conduct and will ensure that all areas of the job responsibilities reflect the mission of the Old Colony Y, and regulating agency. The Referee will display and encourage the character traits of caring, responsibility, honesty and respect in the fulfillment of all job duties.
JOB FUNCTION:
PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Enforce and demonstrate a strong knowledge of all the rules of the Old Colony YMCA Basketball League. The league rules are High School Rules with a few modifications.
  • Work 2-4 games in any given night that you are assigned to work.
  • League Details:
    • Adults (men's league, women's league)
    • Competitive w/ playoffs-(2) 20 minute halves (running clock) -(2) refs per game-sessions run: spring, fall, winter
  • Work score, stat sheets and scoreboard if needed
  • Arrive 15 minutes before schedule time
  • Receives and follows detailed instructions
  • Must be capable of working under pressure
  • Ability to resolve conflicts in a professional and tactful manner
  • Assist with the set-up of the gym before games and the cleanup
  • Ensure a safe and positive experience
  • Work closely with the league coordinator to ensure the league runs smoothly

    • Be able to work Score, Stat sheets and a scoreboard if asked
