To thrive as a Barge Engineer, you need strong mechanical aptitude, experience with marine systems, and a relevant engineering qualification such as a maritime engineering license. Familiarity with dynamic positioning systems, safety protocols, heavy equipment, and certifications like STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) are typically required.
