Job description

What We're Looking For:
Barge Design Solutions, Inc. is seeking a driven Civil Engineering Team Lead to join our team in Knoxville, TN. In this role, you will support engineering projects, document development and design, and perform other relatedtasks. You will work on multiple projects withcomplex features as a technical lead or portions of larger conventionalprojects and supervise a small teamof Engineering Associates and recent Professional Engineers.
Responsibilities:
  • Assists in project scope and budget development, as well asassisting in project design.
  • Supports PM providing technical leadership on conventional projects.
  • Designs experiments, interprets, and develops conclusions on complex data.
  • Writes and reviews engineer specifications, documents, drawings, etc. toproduce various deliverables.
  • Designs a component, or process on complex projects or designs a complete project, systems, orcomponents on conventional projects.
  • Responsible for completing a subset of project documents.
  • Participates in client meetings, as appropriate.
  • Conducts on-site visits to monitor progress of project.
  • Supervises one or more staff.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Education & Experience Qualifications:
  • Bachelor'sdegree in civil engineering from accredited program.
  • Minimumof 6 or more years of engineering experience.
  • RegisteredTN PE.

Skills:
  • Applies practical knowledge acquired through progressiveexperience to resolve issues.
  • Strong working knowledge of Auto Cad, and other essential equipment for fieldand office work.
  • Proficient in stormwater management design, utility design, grading, anderosion and sediment control design.
  • Strongcommunication skills and ability to prepare technical reports for submission toagencies.
  • Keepsinformed of new methods and developments affecting the organization.
  • Abilityto effectively manage and motivate employees.

People Skills:
  • Managesa smaller group of employees.
  • Thisrole will have talent management responsibilities for a group of individualsincluding, but not limited to selection, development, and coaching forimprovement.
  • Mayrecommend separations.
  • Thisrole mentors other professionals.

Supervision:
  • Directs Engineering Associates and Designers in preparation ofproject plans.
  • Technical lead on conventional projects.

Expectations:
  • Timeliness & quality of technical team's work on projectsand budget adherence.
