As a key member of our bar team, our manager must ensure the business always operates smoothly with high energy. The ideal candidate must thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, maintaining a courteous demeanor with customers and team members. Strong leadership and personal management skills should be accompanied by a customer service orientation and commitment to company values & image. The manager pays attention to operational details to ensure the comfort, safety, and enjoyment of guests and our team; effectively communicates these details to members at all levels. Help maintain and improve our bar's reputation as a “go-to” entertainment venue in downtown Iowa City.


Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Communicate efficiently and effectively with customers, team members, and owner via email, Slack, and in-person
  • Set the tone for staff: recruit, train, and motivate team members in an enthusiastic, positive environment
  • Oversee & review performance and job functions of direct reports, give them the tools for success, and have the hard conversations when they don’t reach expectations.
  • Uphold all accountability standards such as daily duties, side work, cleaning lists, etc.
  • Support and assist team members to resolve areas of concern and customer complaints promptly and according to company guidelines
  • Oversee the preparation of beverages to ensure quality of the product served
  • Generate, communicate, promote, and execute scheduled private events, promotions, and specials
  • Own the office: pay bills, update new hire info, update shift reports, utilize Slack & email communications
  • Actively engage our guests by adding personal touches

Job Qualifications

  • Must have a positive attitude & passion for leading and developing our team members
  • Minimum 5 Years of Bar/ Restaurant experience preferred with comfort working in any FOH role (bar, serve, security)
  • The ability to multitask and prioritize multiple situations, problem-solve, and ask for help when necessary
  • Proficient in basic computer skills and Toast POS Systems
  • Available 40-45 Hours per week with wide flexibility regarding hours. Comfortable working and respoding when needed in cases of emergencies
