Summary
Mizuho Americas, a leading corporate and investment bank in the US, is experiencing tremendous growth. Our Corporate Communications & Marketing division is looking for a Vice President to join the Public Relations team. We're a team of passionate doers who are proactive and committed to collaborating with our colleagues to further position Mizuho as a top 10 corporate and investment bank in the Americas.
As part of the Integrated Communications & Content Strategy team, you will be responsible for supporting multi-channel public relations campaigns that raise visibility of the Mizuho brand as well as highlight the firm's capabilities and value proposition. Our ideal candidate will have experience working cross-functionally in-house at a financial services organization or at a PR agency supporting financial services clients and a strong media relations skill set. You must be able to collaborate effectively with a talented team of marketing & PR professionals, as well as interface directly with the press, business leaders, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Support multi-channel public relations strategies that help shape the Mizuho brand and promote our businesses and spokespeople through proactive press outreach, content development, and social/digital alignment.
  • Serve as press officer and support day-to-day media relations for businesses including Equities, Fixed Income, Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Research and Economics, as well as select firmwide initiatives. Key responsibilities include managing daily press inquiries, pitching stories, arranging and staffing press interviews, supporting robust broadcast appearance calendar, and facilitating high visibility media campaigns. Coordinate activities with business marketing teams and external PR agencies as appropriate.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with target business/financial media to identify opportunities, manage issues, and facilitate positive press outcomes.
  • Execute communications projects, tasks and deliverables that advance the firm's business objectives and expands our profile within the corporate and investment banking industry. Collaborate with CCM team members and internal stakeholders to ensure message consistency and strategic alignment to brand identity.
  • Establish connectivity to key business partners to surface ideas for external promotion helping to manage the process from idea generation to execution.
  • Support process management for PR activities including media monitoring, press release drafting and distribution, media list maintenance, compilation of background and briefing materials for executive spokespeople, message development, competitive audits, tracking for campaigns and thought leadership programs, and additional research projects as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date on major themes and trends that are driving media coverage of the financial services industry and new opportunities to positively position Mizuho in the press.

Qualifications
  • 8-10+ years of experience in public relations with deep experience supporting financial services organizations
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, or related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to understand and discuss markets and complex financial concepts with confidence.
  • Strong relationship management skills, experience working with stakeholders cross-functionally.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work across multiple projects simultaneously; exceptional time-management and organizational skills.
  • Proactive team player with strong interpersonal and presentation skills.

The expected base salary ranges from $121,000.00 - $165,000.00. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
