Job description

TEGNA, one of the most geographically diverse broadcasters in the U.S., is seeking a Cash Applications Specialist to join our Shared Services team. This position will be part of the TEGNA corporate team with company-wide responsibility but will be physically located at our NBC Affiliate in Indianapolis, WTHR.

The Cash Applications Specialist is responsible for the daily application and reconciliation of payment receipts in a high-volume, centralized team with various payment sources - bank lockbox, electronic payments, and credit card payments utilizing imported files for auto-application and actions taken on exceptions.


Additional Responsibilities Include:

Seek assistance from station personnel when needed for accurate payment
posting.
Reconcile and apply pre-payments to subsequent invoices for Paid Programming
accounts.
Research payment posting errors and resolve.
Post all entries to accounts receivable system (WideOrbit) including invoice
adjustments, write-offs, transfers, refunds, and NSFs.
Collaborate and foster effective communication with team members and other
departments.


Required Qualifications


High School Diploma or GED
2 years of experience applying payments to customer accounts in a high-volume
environment with payments from various sources
Very detailed oriented and accurate - excellent with keyboard/mouse data
entry/selection
Keen abilities to decipher payment remittance documents
Comfortable in a team environment where team support is a must
Ability to quickly learn new software and processes
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Professionalism and strong work ethic as daily work must be completed


Preferred Qualifications


Two or four-year degree
4 or more years of experience
Experience with electronic bank file import of payments from Lockbox
Experience with payments made by entities different from the account name in
accounts receivable
Moderate to Intermediate Excel skills
Broadcast Industry and traffic software experience
Wide Orbit software experience
