New Horizons Credit Union's history offers a unique story of progress and growth. Our story begins in 1950 when we were known as Scott Southern Division Employees Credit Union and soon after - simply Scott Credit Union and our core field of membership were the Scott Paper Company employees and their families. As the years progressed and industries changed - the Credit Union was flexible enough to change with the times and opened up its field of membership to include more of the Mobile and surrounding communities. The Credit Union did this while keeping true to its Mission to offer financial solutions for every phase of our members' lives.

Our branch teammates hold the front-line job as they are often the employees that members interact with the most. By having a conversation, we can understand what our members need and can start them on the path to reach their financial goals. We help them buy homes, purchase their first auto, send kids to college, save for a dream vacation and build their futures. Our most important job as the face of New Horizons Credit Union is to build a lasting relationship that helps us match our members with the exact solutions, they need to help them reach their financial goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervises all branch staff/employees within the branch which includes scheduling, training, coaching, disciplining and other supervisory duties. Complete or review performance appraisals, plan, schedule, and coordinate on-going continuing education programs.
  • Leads by example and ensures consistent delivery of distinctive service for all members.
  • Manages employee performance and development by consistently coaching, mentoring, recognizing, and rewarding branch staff to be accountable to position goals and expectations.
  • Ensure that staff is thoroughly trained and cross-trained in all phases of branch operations, lending, and product offerings in order to ensure quality service to the membership.
  • Provides a continuous focus on maintaining and developing branch efficiencies and streamlining operations to be profitable as well as meeting all sales and service needs of the member.
  • Makes certain that branch attains all stated sales and service goals of individual employees which includes...loan volume, gap, life, and disability, warranty as well as any other additional credit union sales and service products offered.
  • Ensures loan volume goals are met and establishes action plans for achieving these goals in conjunction with strategic goals defined by Senior Management.
  • Meets with local schools and businesses in a defined branch area on a weekly basis and identifies opportunities for new relationships in order to generate business within the branch. Provides detailed weekly Business Call Report to VP of Lending and VP of Operations.
  • Partners with all Operation support teams to ensure branch compliance, quality internal controls, quality internal controls, operational policy, lending support procedures, and risk management standards are being met.
  • Supports all organizational wide projects and strategic plans and participates in monthly Branch Manager meetings held by Senior Management.
  • Participates in community activities and leadership organizations to build and drive business to the branch as well as promote the brand of New Horizons Credit Union.
