Job description

Maintenance & Construction Apprentice

Starting Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 / hour + Free Utilities & Major Rent Discount

Location: Carmel, IN & surrounding communities (Up to 40% travel)

Schedule: Mon - Fri, regular day hours with some exceptions for travel and urgent projects

The TL;DR

Instead of taking on massive trade school debt, get paid $19-$21/hour to learn construction, renovation, and property maintenance from the ground up. We provide the training, the tools, the team, and even a steep discount on a luxury apartment with free utilities. You bring the hustle and willingness to learn.

The Reality Check

This is not a desk job. It is hands-on and fast-paced work.

  • You will lift 75+ lbs, climb ladders, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • You will be using hand and power tools daily.
  • You will be traveling between local or long-distance locations 100% of the time.

If you want a job where you sit behind a screen, this isn't for you. But if you want to build real, practical skills that last a lifetime, build up your physical fitness, and watch tangible results come to life every single day, this job is for you.

The Paid Trade Blueprint

Think of this as an apprenticeship where you get paid to unlock multiple skills at once. Working alongside seasoned pros across luxury apartment communities, you will learn:

  • Demo & Prep: Safely tearing out old materials, appliances, and fixtures.
  • Interior Craft: Mastering professional drywall patching, high-speed interior painting, and installing modern light fixtures, cabinets, and LVP flooring.
  • Finishing Touches: Detail work ("punch list" items) that takes a unit from rough to high-end luxury.
  • Exterior & Grounds: Power washing, seasonal repair projects, landscaping, and building exterior upkeep.
The Total Compensation Stack

We don't do standard corporate benefits-we offer real quality-of-life perks:

  • Housing Perks: Substantial rent discount to live at one of our luxury communities plus completely free utilities.
  • Unbeatable PTO: 15.5 paid holidays right out of the gate. At 90 days, you get 88 hours of PTO. At year one of service, we drop another 120 hours into your bank.
  • Health & Life: Low-cost medical, dental, vision, disability, and voluntary pet insurance options.
  • Growth & Fun: Unlimited access to the MytrueU learning platform, plus epic, fully paid company events where we celebrate our hard work together.
What You Need on Day 1
  • The Right Attitude: You take pride in doing good work, stay reliable, and bring a strong work ethic every day.
  • Logistics: A valid driver's license and dependable transportation (for local property travel).
  • Basic Familiarity: You know how to use a tape measure, hammer, and screwdriver.
  • Experience: 0-2 years in landscaping, construction, or general labor (preferred, but not required). High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ladder & Height Safety: The company will provide safety training, but you must be comfortable being on ladders and with heights.
  • Nice to Have - Not Required: Bringing your own tools is a plus. If you don't have them, it's not a problem.

The BAM Companies provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants.
