Job Description:
Summary:
The RN is expected to work autonomously within the scope of professional standards, the rules and regulations established by the TN Board of Nursing, and knowledge of policies and procedures within Ballad and those specific to the worksite.
• Onsite RN will be responsible for the care of patients assigned to Occupational Health, triaging, and providing onsite emergency care to employees within the guidelines of written medical orders and protocols.
• Triages and provides onsite initial treatment for work related injury and illness and assesses if outside medical care is needed.
• The RN is responsible for adhering to OSHA mandated procedures and guidelines and maintaining the accuracy of OSHA record keeping. • This position involves maintaining current knowledge of evidenced based nursing practice and the ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills in the implementation of all phases of the nursing process.
• Onsite RN manages company required surveillances including hearing conservations/medical surveillance evaluations.
• This position will also be responsible for identifying and evaluating behaviors exemplified by company employees that would require reasonable suspicion/cause for drug and/or alcohol testing.
• Also, will be responsible for identifying and evaluating various physical and emotional concerns exemplified by company employees that would require a referral for mental health evaluation.
• Provides individual counseling, goal setting to employees on health maintenance, results of health screenings and health promotion activities and chronic disease management. Assist in planning, development, implementation and evaluation of occupational health and health promotion programs for client companies in cooperation with the company and Ballad Health.
• Will provide medications (OTC), vaccinations, immunizations per medical order guidelines.
• Performs drug and alcohol screenings per company protocols.
• Acts as a gatekeeper for health services, rehab, return to work and case management issues.
• Is a liaison between the employee and health care professionals. Collaborates with onsite members of the company's occupational health team such as occupational medical physician, industrial hygienist, safety engineers, management, and union representatives.
• The onsite RN teaches or coordinates onsite educational classes, including BLS, first aid, AED training, blood born pathogen, and chronic disease management.
• Maintains medical supplies and equipment, monitors, manages and calibrates equipment as required by the industry.
Requirements:
Associate degree from an accredited nursing program, bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum 3 years clinical experience as an RN preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid and active RN licensure in appropriate state. CPR required.
Must be certified in DOT urine drug and breath alcohol collections. (Training and certification are available through Ballad Health Occupational Medicine).
Certification if applicable of onsite services for Audiogram testing-CAOHC (Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation), and if applicable NIOSH certified in Spirometry testing.
