Job Description:
Summary:
The Ballad Health Academy Pathway Registered Nurse position will be responsible for helping to ensure the clinical success of students who enter Ballad Health Academy. This will involve leading the education of Academy students in the clinical setting within Ballad hospitals and clinics, as well as, instructing clinical courses at the local high schools.
A. The Pathway Registered Nurse must be comfortable working with youth grades 4-12 and their parents. Some exposure to teaching children is needed.
B. The Pathway Registered Nurse should be "student centered" with a focus on advising students throughout the clinical requirements to become a CNA and an LPN. This includes, but is not limited to, leading students toward certification in BLS, Stop the Bleed, and other credential-building programs as well as preparing and teaching Project Based Learning (PBL) activities to expose students to the healthcare industry broadly.
C. The Pathway Registered Nurse will develop a working knowledge of high school graduation requirements, as well as Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) and local Community College LPN and RN requirements. The Pathway Registered Nurse will work closely with health science teachers within each high school and TCAT instructors, Ballad Health Academy Pathway Advisors, Students and Parents.
D. The incumbent will travel between assigned schools and clinical sites, monitoring student progress via regular meetings with students and building level stakeholders. In addition, the Pathway Registered Nurse will provide relevant school officials (teachers, counselors and administrators) accurate and up-to-date information for participating students at regular intervals.
E. The Ballad Health Academy will develop and coordinate numerous camps for students and educational personnel. This role will be required to participate in these activities and to help in their planning and implementation.
F. This role will develop a working knowledge of the capabilities and goals of the mobile simulation unit and will facilitate course instruction on the unit including potential community outreach activities.
G. Will assist with marketing/recruiting of program within regional K-12 schools through in-person and recorded media. Will serve as an advocate for the Ballad Health Academy in the community and at regional/national events.
H. The Ballad Health Academy is a dynamic and evolving program. The successful candidate must be able to actively engage, and complete duties as determined by the changing needs of the program. Must be able to work as a part of a team and have excellent communications skills. The candidate must be able to work with a wide variety of disciplines and individuals at a wide variety of experience levels.
Requirements:
Registered Nurse: RN or BSN, required. 3 years of clinical experience as a registered nurse required. Experience with primary/secondary and or post-secondary clinical oversight/mentoring preferred. Must be a strong collaborator who can work in a matrixed environment and team setting to accomplish goals in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
