POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking for a true culinary professional to join our team of artisan bakers. As a Baker at Ole & Steen you will learn about real Danish bread and pastries. You will produce artisan Danish breads, rolls, and laminated dough as a part of an enthusiastic and international team,
The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic about baking, love long fermentation times, and enjoy working as a team. You must adhere to health and safety standards. The goal is to enhance customer satisfaction so that we can maintain and expand our clientele and you must expect to produce a high volume of products for our stores. This role is ideal for someone who is interested in learning about our Danish heritage and learn about real Danish breads and pastries.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare a variety of breads, ryes, rolls, and pastries according to our traditional Danish recipes
  • Observe and maintain the quality of products being baked, and adjust oven temperatures, baking time accordingly
  • Measuring and combining ingredients and using mixers, heat sources, and other equipment
  • Checking quality of raw materials to ensure that standards and specifications are met
  • Follow portion standards
  • Monitor inventory of ingredients for production
  • Properly label and store ingredients
  • Check equipment to ensure that it meets health and safety regulations
  • Maintain a clean and orderly station and adhere to health and safety standards

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
  • Completion of a Culinary School program or apprenticeship preferred
  • 2-3 years of professional baking experience preferred. Experience with Danish or Scandinavian baking methods is a huge plus!
  • Experience with mixing, bench work, proofing, and baking bread as well as working with laminated doughs for our breakfast pastry production
  • Ability to work overnight, weekends, and some holidays
  • Able to lift 50+lbs without restrictions
  • The ability to stand and/or bend for extended periods of time to perform essential job functions
  • Basic math skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Thoroughly follow company procedures according to health and safety standards
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and procedures
