Senior Software Developer
Contingent upon Customer Approval
Purpose:
  • Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for a highly motivated and skilled Senior Software Developer on-site in Huntsville, AL.
  • Join the team responsible for the Missile Defense System (MDS) Ground Test (GT) scenario design for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
  • MDA GTs are critical to assess the performance of our nation’s defense systems through a variety of Hardware in the Loop (HWIL) and simulation-based tests.
  • Excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge defense technologies while contributing to the security of our nation.
Job Description:
  • Hands-on engineering role embedded within a development team, collaborating closely with engineers and software developers to maintain .NET Framework web applications, design and code new .NET Core web applications, and maintain existing and design and code new .NET Core Web Services that support the scenario design process.
  • Maintain ASP.NET Core Web Services that implement mathematical models of sensors and weapons systems.
  • Design, develop, and maintain web-based applications and web services used in the MDS Ground Test scenario design process.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers and developers to enhance and modernize tools and processes.
  • Participate in requirements gathering and interface directly with end-users to understand their needs and design solutions.
  • Perform full-stack development tasks including working with SQL databases, back-end services, and front-end UI components.
  • Help modernize our tools and processes and drive innovation and efficiency in our mission.

Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline and at least 10-plus years of experience with full-stack development, including front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ASP.NET, ASP.NET Core) and back-end development (C#, .NET Framework, .NET Core) with demonstrated ability to work on large-scale projects.
  • Must have familiarity with web service development
  • Must have the ability to work with advanced math and physics, particularly vector mathematics.
  • Must be Proficient in designing, implementing, and optimizing SQL database structures and queries.
  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to new technologies quickly.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with end-users and technical teams to understand and meet user requirements.
  • Must be highly motivated, proactive, and committed to delivering quality work within deadlines.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies, preferred.
  • Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes and best practices, preferred.
  • Previous experience in the defense or aerospace industry is preferred.
  • Passion for working on mission-critical applications in a fast-paced environment, , preferred.
  • Active SECRET security clearance, preferred.
Security Requirements:
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Travel Requirements: 
  • Occasional or No Travel- less than 10%.
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID.
