Job description

Duty Days Per Year: Equivalent of 177 days (171 student contact days + 5 days before school & 1 day after school) ย PLUS on a timesheet, 24ย  half days in SUMMER (June and July)ย  Under current regulations, eligible for UA for summer, excluding the hours worked for summer school.
Hours Per Day: 8 (6:00am-2:00pm)ย 
Location:ย ย M-SFE, T-SFMS, W-EBES, Th-SFHS, F-CCESย  (SFLC rotated into SFHS rotation) Prescheduled rotation * Note below.
This position is district wide, however the base location for inner office mail and mileage reimbursement calculation = SFHS
Type of Position: ย Continuing
Salary: (B23) $24.12 - $24.76 plus various benefits outlined in Nutrition Services Manager work agreement.

Qualifications:ย 
Required: High School Diploma; School Foodservice Experience or relevant experience,ย ย Managementย Experience or relevant education or training.ย  Regular attendance is an essential function of the job. ย 
Preferred: School Foodservice experience, managerial.ย  Current CFM license or ability to achieve within 90 days; ability to achieveย SNA certification within 1 year; must be able toย work in a warm, noisy, fast-paced school kitchen/cafeteria environment; grades Pk-12ย school experience, desired; excellent customer service skills, computer skills, attendance record.ย  Must have basic understanding of computerized order systems,ย ย cycle menus,ย production systems and be able to operate all kitchen equipment.ย  Must be able to work with all personality types and remain positive.ย Will be exerting up to 50 pounds of forceย 1/3 of the time, ย 25ย pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects in the performance of the job.
RESPONSIBILITIESย 

















  • Supports new and ongoing training of new Nutrition Services program staff.
  • Supports standard operating procedures that ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations across all district kitchens.
  • Supports the ongoing implementation of Nutrition Services technology across all sites such as point of service, back of the house record keeping, and inventory management.
  • Manages kitchen operations at any district sites when needed.
  • Prepares food according to a planned menu and tested, uniform recipes using commercial foodservice equipment.
  • Supports food ordering and inventory as needed
  • Supports kitchen compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations in the operation of school nutrition programs
  • Assists with inventory and HACCP logs and work orders


Summary of Job Duties: ย (Nutrition Services Managers,(B23). Job duties are included but not limited to the following:ย The Assisting Kitchen Manager,ย is a working manager position, providing hands on support to district production kitchens and satellite kitchens by completing a prescheduled rotation* Note:ย  subject to change due to Kitchen Manager vacancy and kitchen staffing needs based on absences of cook, kitchen assistant, cashier and helper positions.ย  The position will support daily production of high quality, delicious, nutritious, andย compliant school meals by planning & organizing the work of self and others in a busy, noisy, fast-paced, school kitchen & cafeteria environment.ย  This position is also the backup to the Nutrition delivery van driver.
DUTIES AND SKILLS


  • Basic knowledge and understanding of USDA child nutrition programs
  • Maintains cooperative, productive workplace relationships in a manner which creates a pleasant environment for all those being served
  • Operational knowledge of commercial food service equipment used in preparing quantity foods
  • Understands complexity of daily recordkeeping
  • Knowledge of food preparation
  • Knowledge of sanitation and safety requirements
  • Knowledge of computerized cash registers and software program
  • Ability to perform job and communicate in a noisy environment
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs. such as milk crates, frozen foods and canned foods
  • Must be computer literate, proficient in email
  • Attends monthly kitchen manager meetings and other meetings as requested
  • Additional duties as assigned

Special Requirements:

  • Certified MN Food Protection Manager within 90 days of hire.
  • Valid driver's license in the state of Minnesota and ability to drive deliveryย van.
