Job description

Job Summary:
Orion Innovation is a premier, award-winning, global business and technology services firm. They are seeking a Senior Database Developer to design, develop, optimize, and manage database solutions for a cloud native application deployed on Microsoft Azure.
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain Azure SQL / SQL Server databases to support enterprise grade applications
• Develop and optimize T SQL, stored procedures, functions, views, and indexes
• Ensure database performance, scalability, availability, and data integrity
• Partner closely with application developers to support backend and full stack features
• Implement and manage database deployments using PowerShell and automated release pipelines
• Support CI/CD workflows using Azure DevOps and GitHub
• Perform schema versioning, migration, partitioning, and release coordination across environments
• Troubleshoot production issues and perform performance tuning and root cause analysis
• Enforce database security, access controls, and best practices
Qualifications:
Required:
• Strong experience as a Senior Database Developer or equivalent role
• Advanced expertise in SQL Server / Azure SQL
• Strong T SQL development skills (stored procedures, indexing, query optimization)
• Experience with Azure hosted databases and cloud based architectures
• Hands on experience with PowerShell for database deployment and automation
• Experience working with Azure DevOps pipelines and GitHub for version control
• Solid understanding of database design principles and data modeling
• Experience supporting applications built on .NET / C# (backend integration)
Preferred:
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Bicep, ARM, or Terraform
• Experience with database monitoring, performance diagnostics, and tuning in Azure
• Familiarity with security, auditing, and compliance requirements
• Experience in Agile/Scrum delivery environments
