Job description

Job Title: Azure DevOps Engineer
Location: Washington, DC Metro area - 50% remote
Duration: 6 to 12 Months
Position Overview:
The client is seeking a talented, energetic, ambitious DevOps Engineer who wants to join their software development team. As a DevOps Engineer, you will have the opportunity to be a member of the global software development organization working with state-of-the-art tools and technologies to build the next wave of software applications for our global enterprise. You will work with various development teams to embrace DevOps and onboard them in the DevOps journey.
The DevSecOps Engineer is responsible for the Build, Release, and Configuration Management function. Establishes and coordinates with developers to create standard build
procedures.
For teams already using DevOps, you will work with them in designing and developing the pipeline. You will also work with Cloud Architecture Team, Identity & Management Team, Information Security, and various Infrastructure and Development Teams in architecting and developing solutions from a DevOps perspective.
Position Duties/Responsibilities:
Administration and support of Azure DevOps, and GitHub version control repositories
Deploy applications in Azure and Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS)
Implement DevOps pipeline by automating deployments and developing scripts for NodeJs, and React applications in Azure DevOps for web applications and for Kotlin Android Mobile applications. Scripting for building code, robust deployment, rollback, and capacity testing; and also for running automated unit tests, regression tests, and security tests. The expertise of Azure DevOps automated deployments using GUI-based and YAML-based scripts.
Creating Docker images, Docker files, maintaining versions of builds and images, Azure Kubernetes Services
Automating the Azure infrastructure build using Terraform and Helm Charts
Automating release of Application upgrades and DB updates for automated creation/updates of schema, and automated seed data population
Running static and dynamic security scans and performing penetration testing on enterprise-grade application security scanning tools like Fortify. Ability to analyze the reports and guide the developers to fix the issues
Integrating testing tools like Postman and Cypress; and OSS tools like WhiteSource in the pipeline.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, CIS, MIS, or related technical field of study
• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, mainly in Azure DevOps
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to think out of the box and question everything
Required Skills:
• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, mainly in Azure DevOps
• Expertise in DevOps Architecture & Process development
• Expertise in DevOps Assessment & Strategy development
• Experience in Version control, Environment, Release strategy development, and Branching Policy
• Strong hands-on Azure Cloud and Azure DevOps pipeline development
• Strong knowledge of Azure Architecture
• Experience in Infrastructure & Configuration as Code Architecture(ARMTerraform)
• Experience in Containerization
• Experience in embedding and enabling security in DevOps
• Self-starter and ability to quickly learn new technology and implement it effectively
Preferred Skills:
• Good exposure to Azure Infrastructure Engineering
• Excellent knowledge of Azure services
• Strong knowledge of Version control software (GIT), branching techniques, artifacts management, administration, and support (GitHub/Azure DevOps)
• PowerShell Scripting experience
• Excellent hands-on knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and Serverless (Azure CLI) deployments
• Excellent knowledge of Terraform scripts and Helm Charts
• Experience in creating CI/CD pipelines for NodeJS, Kotlin, React, and Microsoft .NET applications
• Experience in Whitesource, Gradle, JUnit, NPM packages, Docker Lint, Swagger, Jest, Microsoft AppCenter
• Experience in working with Open Source Components and Solutions.
• Experience with ServiceNow, Jira, and Azure DevOps Test Plans
• Hands-on experience in provisioning infrastructure with automation tools such as ARM Templates, Terraform, and Helm Charts
• Knowledge of enterprise-grade application security scanning tools for doing dynamic scans and penetration testing, like Fortify
• Supporting full-stack applications using web apps, containers, messaging, serverless, microservices, etc
• Experience using tools such as Postman, Newman, Log Parsers
• Experience in logging and monitoring tools
• Experience in Azure VNET, Azure Networking, APIM, Load Balancers, AKS, Messaging, App Services, SQL, and Storage.
• Experience working on Software Composition, Static Application Security Testing, and Dynamic Security Application Testing with tools such as MicroFocus Fortify or WebInspect
• Familiarity with development standards such as MVC, client-side frameworks (Angular JS/jQuery), asynchronous programming, web sockets, web APIs, SOA, SQL, and mobile
• Ability to provide guidance in modernization applications for moving into the cloud.
• Azure certifications preferred
