Job description

Azteca Milling LP, the producer of MASECA, is a division of Gruma Corporation. With over 50 years of experience Gruma is the world's largest producer of corn masa flour. Azteca Milling L.P. has an immediate opening for a Purchasing Agent for its Corporate Headquarters in Irving, TX. This position is responsible for the everyday supervision of the Quality Assurance Department.

Keep Q.A. Manager informed of departmental operations.

Supervise and direct departmental employees.

Supervise the application of the work instructions, specifications etc.

Facilitate the work schedule of the department and control overtime.

Assist in maintaining Q.A. laboratory installations.

Assist in controlling expenses to ensure a balanced budget.

Monitor flour quality throughout the different stages.

Direct the Q.A. SAP computer applications.

Verification of Q.A. equipment functionality and verification of the calibrations

Work with other Azteca departments that can affect the quality of the product and service to customers.

Oversee and maintain direct training of employees.

Help in the implementation of the Quality systems Certifications.

Promote and implement Gruma Corporation World Quality Program.

Perform food safety audits. In conjunction with manager determine status of final product.

Perform external-audit testing.

Verify HACCP controls.

Regular and timely attendance is a job requirement of all employees.

Perform other duties as assigned. 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High School diploma, GED or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in food science, Chemical, Engineering, Microbiology strongly preferred. 3 years of experience in Quality Assurance in a manufacturing environment required. Food/Beverage manufacturing preferred. With a minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity or 4 years as a Lead in a manufacturing environment required. Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES Bilingual English & Spanish required.
