Job description

Welding Technology Instructor
Full-time permanent position beginning 26/27 school year

The Career Institute of Technology is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Welding Technology Instructor to join our instructional team. This position begins full-time as of the 2026-2027 school year with opportunity to begin sooner to set up a new lab / classroom, if available.


The successful candidate will teach high school students enrolled in a Career & Technical Education (CTE) program that covers foundational and advanced welding processes, including SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, and related fabrication technologies. Instruction includes both theory and hands-on laboratory activities aligned to industry standards (AWS/ASME), safety practices, and program task lists.
 

Responsibilities include:

Deliver high-quality instruction in shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc
welding, flux-cored arc welding, oxy-fuel cutting, and plasma cutting.

Develop and implement lesson plans that integrate welding theory, blueprint reading, metallurgy, and real-
world fabrication applications.

Maintain a safe, organized, and industry-standard welding lab environment.
Assess student welds and technical skills, provide constructive feedback, and track progress toward program
competencies.

Supervise students during hands-on welding activities and strictly reinforce proper safety procedures and
PPE usage.

Collaborate with industry advisory partners, colleagues, and administration to support program growth and
alignment with regional workforce needs.

Participate in professional development and school-based initiatives
 

Qualifications:
Minimum 4 years of relevant industry experience in welding, fabrication, pipefitting, or related structural
metal fields required.

Willing to obtain PDE Career & Technical Instructional Certification (tuition reimbursement available).

Strong communication skills, a commitment to student success, and the ability to manage a hands-on, high-
intensity learning environment are essential.

Compensation is as per the CIT Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement. 10-month, school year (188
days), Mon- Fri, 7.5 hours per day
