Job description

Position Information: 

BreakForth Solutions is seeking an experienced AWS Front and Back-End Developer to join the team's AWS Cloud development effort in supporting our federal customer’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). The candidate should have AWS Cloud experience and be able to work with AWS native tools. Experience working in Federal IT organizations and with the AWS Landing Zone (LZ) environment is preferred. 

Essential Functions 

  • Work with the AWS team and stakeholders to develop scalable AWS applications that can expand across the Federal customer’s component agencies and external government stakeholders.
  • Be the technical subject matter expert and primarily responsible for the development of dynamic, scalable, available, fault-tolerant, reliable, and secure cloud applications on AWS.
  • Design and develop user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue) while ensuring responsiveness and optimal performance across various devices. 
  • Integrate with back-end APIs to fetch and display data dynamically. 
  • Leverage AWS services like Amplify for user authentication, data storage, and content delivery. 
  • Build robust server-side logic using languages like Python, Java, and Node.js, utilizing AWS services like Lambda, EC2, RDS, S3, and DynamoDB. 
  • Develop RESTful APIs to facilitate communication between front-end and back-end components. 
  • Implement data management strategies, including database design, data validation, and security measures. 
  • Design and implement cloud architecture, considering scalability, high availability, and cost optimization. 
  • Utilize AWS services for deployment, monitoring, logging, and load balancing. 
  • Understand and apply best practices for security within the AWS platform. 
  • Work closely with designers, product managers, and other developers to translate business requirements into technical solutions. 
  • Contribute to continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Run unit and integration tests for AWS-based applications.
  • Conduct AWS code reviews and ensure code quality and standards compliance.
  • Participate in agile development processes related to AWS projects

Education/Skills/Experience Requirements: 

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in large-scale software development or application engineering with recent coding exposure to two or more of the following languages: Java, JavaScript, etc., especially with Spring Boot and other frameworks.
  • Minimum of 5 years of full stack experience in Web Development using AWS Front and Backend technologies.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with AWS services.
  • Experience in architecting, designing, and programming applications in an AWS Cloud environment, with serverless and containers.
  • Experience with AWS, cloud deployments, DevOps, and web security.
  • Proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience writing backend API services using Java scripts in a serverless framework.
  • Knowledge of database architecture.
  • Proficiency with NoSQL databases (DynamoDB).
  • Strong hands-on experience with the design and development of RESTful APIs.
  • Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with source control management systems, preferably Git.
  • Strong hands-on experience writing unit tests and integration tests.
  • Working knowledge of Lambda functions using Python and others.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven track record of effective teamwork.
  • Experience working and collaborating in an Agile environment with product owners, business analysts, development, and technical documentation teams in the efficient design and implementation of solutions.
