Send us your resume in complete confidence. Mass Bay Credit Union is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. JOB TITLE : Manager of Loan UnderwritingREPORTS TO : AVP of LendingSTATUS : Full time; exempt Job Purpose To evaluate, analyze, and underwrite consumer and home equity loan applications in accordance with credit union lending policies, regulatory requirements, and sound underwriting practices. This role supports the credit union's mission by making timely, accurate lending decisions that balance the member experience, portfolio quality, and risk management while fostering strong member relationships along with the members financial well-being. Duties and Responsibilities Review credit applications for various types of consumer loans, including Home Equity Products, and analyze applicable information (credit reports, collateral valuation, legal documents, etc.) to render credit decisions in accordance with lending policies.Use discretion and independent judgment for credit decisions not conforming to lending policies and consult with the Chief Lending Officer or AVP of Consumer Lending.Consistently demonstrates leadership in lending operations, member service, pipeline management, and sales.Proactively seek cross-selling opportunities for each credit applicant. Identify and assist in the development of new loan products.Establish clear expectations for productivity, quality, member service, and turnaround times.Identify performance gaps and implement coaching, training, and process improvements to enhance results.Promote a high performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, member experience and risk management.Respond to and resolve consumer and home equity loan clerks, as well as retail staff loan inquiries in a timely manner and facilitate assistance from other staff as appropriate. Constantly develop greater knowledge in all areas of credit union operations.Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the Credit Unions policies and procedures as well as regulations and compliance, both state and federal.Required to attend or participate in necessary compliance training. Responsible for maintaining and updating the HMDA LAR on a monthly and quarterly basis.Ensure underwriting decisions are consistent with credit policy, credit union guidelines, regulatory requirements , and risk appetite.Assists with Quality Control reviews of loan files. Participate in activities that help reinforce our PICK US values and support a positive internal culture.Assist the Chief Lending Officer and AVP of Consumer Lending in performing other duties and responsibilities as needed to ensure organizational success.Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to all matters of lending.Responsible for adherence to anti-money laundering duties and the Bank Secrecy Act laws.Represent the Credit Union in a professional and friendly manner, both internally and within the community.Assumes other duties, responsibilities, special assignments, and training as necessary or directed. QualificationsA minimum of 3 to 5 years of similar or related experience. Credit Union experience preferred. Knowledge of lending compliance.Strong Communication, both oral and written skills.Ability to become a Mortgage Loan Originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS).Computer skills mandatory. Working Conditions This position requires a flexible schedule with limited evening and weekend duties, traveling in Credit Union's service area, attending events, and working at times with challenging circumstances and challenging members. Physical RequirementsWhile performing the essential duties of the position, the employee would be regularly required to stand, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, talk, and hear.
