Job Description
Engineering Technician
The Engineering Technician supports the development, testing, and installation of aviation weather equipment by performing prototype builds, interpreting engineering drawings, updating CAD designs, and providing hands-on technical assistance to engineering and field teams. This role contributes to equipment integration, documentation accuracy, and continuous improvement efforts while ensuring high-quality fabrication and installation practices.
Compensation & Benefits:
Estimated Starting Salary Range for Engineering Technician: $72,000 - $85,000
Pay commensurate with experience.
Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.
Engineering Technician Responsibilities Include:
  • Support prototype builds of new or revised aviation weather equipment assemblies.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and SOW language to determine technical approach and material requirements.
  • Update and revise CAD drawings and redlines (mechanical / electrical).
  • Support engineering development testing and production acceptance testing.
  • Provide onsite technical support to engineering, integration, and field installation teams.
  • Develop routing concepts for electrical conduit and cable harnessing between equipment components.
  • Assist in developing procedures + method statements for installing equipment inside fiberglass shelters.
  • Assist in the installation and integration of aviation weather equipment.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation, design notes, test records, and configuration control feedback.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts in manufacturability, accuracy, repeatability, and installation efficiency.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Engineering Technician Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • High school diploma is required.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment (electronics / electro-mechanical preferred).
  • Experience with AutoCAD is required.
  • Good oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team, are prerequisites.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and revise engineering drawings (CAD experience required).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical assembly practices.
  • Proficient with common shop tools, fixtures, measurement equipment, and general fabrication support.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to support onsite work or equipment installations (continental US + Alaska).
  • Experience supporting FAA contracts and/or aviation weather / NAVAIDS equipment.
  • Experience with prototype builds or R&D engineering support.
  • Experience developing installation procedures or process documentation.
  • Experience with Autodesk Fusion is a plus.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
