Built on a foundation of Respect, Safety, Quality, and Results, we are looking for a skilled and motivated Structures Technician to perform functions assigned in the repair and replacement of aircraft sheet metal structures. In this role, you'll inspect, fabricate, and install crucial structural components such as landing gear fittings, skins, and floor beams, ensuring each aircraft meets the highest standards of safety and compliance. As a 24/7 operation, we have openings across all shifts—including standard day shifts, 2nd shift, weekend shifts, and 12-hour shifts. Candidates must be flexible and willing to be assigned to any shift based on operational needs.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research technical data and performs inspection, repair and replacement of aircraft sheet metal structures including main landing gear fittings, aircraft skins and floor beams in accordance with applicable maintenance manuals, FAA regulations and Ascent Aviation policies and procedures.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products.
  • Plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal parts, equipment, and products utilizing knowledge of working characteristics of metallic and nonmetallic materials, machining, and layout techniques.
  • Selects gauge and type of sheet metal, such as stainless steel, steel, or aluminum, or nonmetallic material, such as plastics or fiberglass, according to product specifications.
  • Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material, using scribes, dividers, squares, and rulers applying knowledge of shop mathematics and layout techniques to develop and trace patterns of product or parts.
  • Performs maintenance work such as repair and maintenance of company equipment and shop housecleaning.
  • Makes appropriate entries in Component Removal Log, completes identification tags, and repairable/parts routing tags upon removing components from aircraft.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in sheet metal fabrication, repair, and installation
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and structural repair manuals
  • Strong understanding of aircraft materials and structural components
  • Experienced in layout, measurement, and precision marking techniques
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, write, and understand English, including following verbal and written instructions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-5 years in Aircraft Structure repair preferred.
  • A License preferred, Driver’s license required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires sitting, standing or walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires frequent walking, climbing and lifting, bending, reaching to shoulder level, carrying, pushing or pulling weight up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:

  • Rivet guns, Drills, Slip rollers & rollers, Grinders & sanders. Work benches & sheet metal tables.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Aircraft maintenance hangar

OTHER DUTIES:

  • May be required to work at both Marana, AZ and Tucson, AZ locations as business needs dictate.
  • Additional duties may be assigned at the discretion of department management.
