Job description

MP&P Engineer -Composite/Interior Composite (Mid-level or Senior)

Boeing Commercial Airplanes Materials & Processes (BCA M&P) is seeking an Experienced Composites Engineer for the 737 Airframe Engineering Support team in Composite and Metal bond technologies based in Renton, WA.

As an M&P engineer, you will define engineering requirements to develop, select, or recommend parts, materials, processes, manufacturing technologies, machinery, tools, and automation systems used in product manufacturing. Additionally, you will drive standardization efforts across business operations.

Your responsibilities include developing, qualifying, and certifying new composite materials, parts, and processes to meet established requirements. Leveraging your expertise in Boeing parts, materials, and processes, you will analyze, resolve, and optimize product and process challenges throughout the Boeing product lifecycle.

This position will require domestic and international travel to execute material, part, and process qualifications across Boeing's global supply chain.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Defines requirements and approves tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and/or maintenance of products.
  • Produces specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes.
  • Maintains compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations.
  • Promotes standardization across business activities.
  • Evaluates emerging technologies for potential application to business needs.
  • Develops and qualifies new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements. Integrates new technologies as appropriate.
  • Manage test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements.
  • Conducts analysis to characterize performance or determine reasons for failure of tools, materials, parts or processes. Implements corrective and preventive actions.
  • Designs, develops and qualifies computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements.
  • Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements. Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 5+ years' experience in Engineering and Manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years' experience driving data-informed manufacturing process improvements and complex technical manufacturing challenges.
  • 5+ years' experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 9+ years' experience in Engineering and Manufacturing environment. (level 4)
  • 9+ years' experience driving data-informed manufacturing process improvements and complex technical manufacturing challenges. (level 4)
  • 9+ years' experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications. (level 4)
  • Experience with driving manufacturing process improvements informed by data.
