Job description

Overview

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit's Commercial Business Units ("Spirit Commercial"). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing's three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial's core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.


Responsibilities

Location: Wichita, KS

Position Responsibilities:

  • Place vacuum and pressure bags over and inside wrapped parts and tools, and test for leaks.
  • Cut fabrics and composite materials to size using knives, shears, automated material cutters etc.
  • Hand and machine finish parts to required tolerances and fit into completed assemblies.
  • Drill, saw, file, sand, pot, patch, build up, trim, fit parts to meet production requirements. Use of hand/air tools; DA, DOTCO, Drills, Scales, Potting gun, Putty knives.
  • Sand, polish molds and/or bonded assembly tools to obtain smooth surfaces.
  • Load, unload and operate ovens in the curing of parts and assemblies, utilizing forklift as needed.
  • Apply parting agents to molds and bond assembly tools.
  • Mix and apply bonding adhesives to details and assemblies using films, spray, pour coating, roller coating and robotics equipment.
  • Spray and brush priming.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • All applicants must be willing and able to work any shift, including alternative work weeks. Majority of new hires will be hired on 2nd shift.
  • A post-offer vision examination is required to confirm applicants are able to perform the tasks of the position.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Pay: $22.52/hour, with potential to earn up to $37.40/hour in accordance with the terms of the relevant collective bargaining agreement.
