Job description

Metis Technology Solutions, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Aviation Analyst to support the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) safety programs and National Airspace System (NAS) operations. This role focuses on conducting advanced aviation safety analytical studies, developing and maintaining analytical models in enhancing aviation safety through data-driven insights. The Senior Aviation Analyst will work on tasks unique to FAA NAS systems, including Air Traffic Operations, Air Traffic Safety System, Air Traffic Management, and related training and safety initiatives. The role involves collaboration with FAA offices, U.S. government agencies, international organizations, and the aerospace community to identify hazards, develop safety standards, and facilitate information sharing.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct aviation safety analytical studies to analyze complex relationships and identify potential hazards not readily apparent, supporting aviation decision-makers.
  • Prepare and present papers on analytical study results as directed by the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).
  • Review and evaluate new data/information sources for integration into FAA safety systems to enhance aviation safety analyses.
  • Evaluate analytical tools to determine their applicability and effectiveness in aviation safety analyses.
  • Support program staff in conducting briefings to demonstrate safety system portal capabilities.
  • Develop, maintain, and disseminate analytical models and methodologies for aviation safety hazard identification.
  • Provide guidance to FAA offices, U.S. government agencies, international organizations, the aerospace community, and the public on analyzing aviation safety data/information.
  • Maintain, enhance, and develop models for monitoring safety performance and initiatives.
  • Support the establishment of international aviation safety data/information standards, taxonomies, and methodologies.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related scientific field.
  • Experience: 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Specialized Skills: Experience supporting FAA NAS systems and operations, including Air Traffic Operations, Air Traffic Safety System, Air Traffic Management, Air Traffic Operations Training, Air Traffic Safety System Training, Aviation Safety, Technical Operations, System Operations, or Air Traffic Management Training.
  • Proficiency in aviation safety analysis, hazard identification, and risk mitigation methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of data analysis, statistical modeling, and analytical tool evaluation.
  • Experience with FAA safety systems or similar aviation safety data systems and portals.
  • Excellent technical writing and presentation skills for preparing papers and delivering briefings.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with diverse stakeholders, including FAA offices, government agencies, and international organizations.
  • Understanding of FAA regulations, aviation safety standards, and data privacy requirements.
  • Specialized FAA or aviation-unique certifications (e.g., FAA Aviation Safety Inspector, Air Traffic Control certifications).

Preferred Skills:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related scientific field.
  • Knowledge of international aviation safety standards.
  • Familiarity with database management and analytical tools.
  • Certifications in relevant technical areas (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, Systems Engineering Professional).
