Job description

Varstaff is searching for a Sr. Buyer with a background in avionics and / or electronic manufacturing projects.
 

Responsibilities:

Perform day to day procurement activities supporting various avionics and / or electronic manufacturing projects.

Develop and manage strategic suppliers and contractors.

Evaluate current procurement processes and practices to identify areas for improvement.

Work with facilities and project management leads to select suppliers and contractors to bid projects and award business that achieves company objectives.

Develop RFP/RFQ packages and evaluate responses.

Perform price and cost analysis.

Issue and manage fixed price and cost type contracts.

Ensure your awards are compliant with established procurement practices and processes.

Ensure the best value is achieved in all procurements.

Employ Costpoint and/or Coupa software to prepare purchase orders and change orders.

Ensures supplier documentation, such as terms and conditions and NDAs are executed prior to engagement.  Negotiate these agreements as necessary.

Support other buyers as necessary with order management, backlog monitoring, daily status, report tracking, and to mitigate schedule risks.

Monitor suppliers’ performance and prepare reports and other records.  Conduct supplier business reviews and develop plans to improve supplier performance.

Serve as an escalation point for the resolution of discrepancies and issues related to purchasing, delivery, receiving, invoices, payments to the suppliers, and supplier performance problems.

Attend/support weekly project planning and status meetings.

Minor travel is required.

Other tasks and responsibilities as may be assigned by leadership.

Skills:

Understanding avionics systems and components, including software and hardware (EEE components, PCBs, PCBAs, LRUs, antennas, batteries, sensors, ordnance, harnesses, instrumentation, secondary structures, engineering & testing services).

Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment to accomplish goals while managing and prioritizing multiple tasks.

Strong skills in Microsoft Outlook and Windows programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).

Ability to work effectively independently and in cross-functional teams.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Exceptional organizational and analytical skills.

Cost and price analysis experience.

Above average knowledge of cost-type contracting.

Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

Experience in construction and facilities purchasing.

Experience with public purchasing procedures.

Federal Acquisition Regulations knowledge/experience.

Experience with Costpoint and Coupa purchasing system and JIRA Atlassian software.

Education:

Minimum of eight (8) years of tactical level experience in purchasing/supply chain.

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, economics, finance, engineering, or a related field. 

Desired:

APICS, CPM, CSCP certification or equivalent.

Master’s degree, MBA preferred.
