Job Title : Lead Telephony Network Engineer (Avaya VoIP) onsite
Overview / Summary
We are seeking an experienced Telephony Network Engineer to provide operational and advanced administration of enterprise telephony and unified communications systems. This role supports day-to-day operations, leads technical telephony projects, maintains voice infrastructure, and serves as the primary escalation point for complex telephony issues.
Key Responsibilities
  • Administer enterprise telephony, voicemail, IVR, conference, safety device, and unified communications services.
  • Respond to move, add, change, and disconnect requests while maintaining accurate E911 location information.
  • Create technical documentation, knowledge base articles, and detailed work records.
  • Lead technical tasks for telephony network maintenance and infrastructure improvements.
  • Research, design, configure, install, and maintain telephony hardware, media gateways, telephones, and related equipment.
  • Perform quality assurance testing and develop technical standards, processes, and configuration documentation.
  • Coordinate with vendors for circuit provisioning and outage resolution.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot vector routing, ARS routing tables, route patterns, voice quality, and call routing issues.
  • Provide engineer-level support for enterprise telephony and unified communications systems.
  • Resolve incident tickets and coordinate cross-functional teams during service outages.
  • Identify automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency and service resiliency.
  • Monitor telephony and network systems to maximize uptime and maintain accurate system diagrams and documentation.
  • Follow incident management and change management processes.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with Avaya on-premise PBX systems.
  • 2+ years of experience administering VoIP and unified communications platforms.
  • 2+ years of experience with SIP, RTP, QoS, dial plans, call routing, and voice gateway technologies.
  • 2+ years of experience troubleshooting voice quality, carrier connectivity, call routing, and E911 services.
  • 2+ years of experience with telecommunications infrastructure, including voice circuits, session border controllers (SBCs), and PSTN integration.
  • Strong knowledge of telephone network services and telephone network design.
  • Advanced systems administration knowledge and strong communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise cloud-based telephony solutions, including migrations from on-premises telephony platforms to cloud-based services.
