Where You Will Work
Looking to live in a small town with big opportunities? What You Will Do
Coordinates and oversees shift operations for autonomous haul truck mining activities, including the safe and efficient movement of equipment, personnel, and materials. Partners closely with the Senior Autonomous Controls Specialist to support day-to-day autonomous mining operations, ensuring activities are executed safely, optimized for productivity, and aligned with operational and production targets.
  • Drive execution of the mine plan through the Autonomous Command System by monitoring haulage activities, assessing system performance and identifying, escalating, or resolving operational issues to ensure safe, reliable, and continuous production.
  • Coordinate collaboration with maintenance, engineering, and technology teams to troubleshoot equipment and system issues, implement solutions, and support ongoing improvements in autonomous haulage performance and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to the achievement of production, efficiency, and deliver safety KPIs by tracking haulage performance metrics, identifying operational challenges, and assisting with real-time adjustments to maintain operational targets.
  • Communicate shift updates across teams by sharing information on system status, changes in plans, and key decisions, ensuring mine operations, maintenance, and support groups remain informed and aligned. Assist with shift transitions by documenting activities, issues, and updates and supporting clear handoffs to ensure continuity between shifts.
  • Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport
  • High School diploma or GED, and five (5) years of combined experience in mining, heavy industrial industry, dispatch, fleet management systems, autonomy, project management, data analytics, continuous improvement, or data driven methodology; OR
  • Associate's degree in Automated Industrial Technology, Industrial Automation Technology, Mechatronics, Instrumentation & Control Technology, Business, Operations Management, Project Management, Computer Information Systems, Data Analytics, Mining Technology, or other related field, and three (3) years of combined experience in mining, heavy industrial industry, dispatch, fleet management systems, autonomy, project management, data analytics, continuous improvement, or data driven methodology; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mining Technology, Mechatronics Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Business, Operations Management, Autonomous Systems Engineering, Project Management, or other related field, and one (1) year of combined experience in mining, heavy industrial industry, dispatch, fleet management systems, autonomy, project management, data analytics, continuous improvement, or data driven methodology.
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures and applicable safety standards
  • Competence in computer operation and applications
  • Organizational and priority setting - able to make complex decisions and prioritize outcomes

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Fleet Management Systems such as MineStar Fleet and/or Modular Mining
  • Dispatch
  • Diverse work experience in various areas of the mining processes
  • Conflict management - able to deal with difficult people or situations.

  • Negotiation skills - ability to be able to achieve target outcomes in an environment of competing priorities

What We Offer You
The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $75,000 - $104,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
