Position Overview

DSN is seeking an Autonomous Truck Integration & Validation Engineer to join a 1st shift team supporting autonomous haul truck testing. This onsite position is based in Tucson, AZ, and offers hands-on exposure to large machinery, autonomous systems (hardware, software, and customer usage), and the full test and validation lifecycle. The role works closely with a 31-person team, onsite expert operators, and software developers, with strong potential for skill development in test planning, on-machine testing, and data analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and update test and development plans for autonomous haul truck testing
  • Execute on-machine testing on autonomous haul trucks to ensure system functionality and reliability
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software issues on autonomous haul trucks
  • Analyze test data to derive insights and improve system performance
  • Thoroughly document and communicate issues identified during testing
  • Write test reports and provide recommendations based on testing results
  • Collaborate with Peoria-based software development teams to align on technical requirements
  • Interface with onsite expert operators and team members through in-person and virtual meetings, email, and instant messaging
  • Engage with end customers to understand their needs and feedback, and apply insights to improve product design and functionality
Team & Work Environment
  • Team of 31 members, with frequent day-to-day interaction with onsite expert operators and virtual collaboration (via Teams) with software developers based in Peoria
  • Role requires the ability to frequently ascend and descend machines while carrying a backpack

Requirements

Education & Experience:
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science curriculum; in lieu of a degree, equivalent experience in test or development of control systems, vehicles, engines, or technologies such as autonomy will be considered
  • Comparable background may include experience in the vehicle test or validation space, or hands-on experience with heavy equipment
Technical Skills:
  • Computer literate (Windows operating system)
  • Strong troubleshooting ability in complex systems
  • Experience with Ubuntu or Linux operating systems (desired)
  • Test planning and documentation experience (desired)
  • Familiarity with electrical schematics (desired)
  • Exposure to autonomous systems such as perception, planning, or positioning (desired)
