Regular training sessions, clear communication of goals, and recognition of achievements can help drive participation. Collaboration with maintenance engineers and production staff is also crucial to identify improvements and maintain equipment reliability.

What is autonomous maintenance?

Autonomous maintenance is a key pillar of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) where machine operators are empowered to take responsibility for the routine maintenance of their equipment. This includes tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, inspecting, and making minor adjustments to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance. The goal is to increase equipment reliability and efficiency while encouraging a sense of ownership among operators. Autonomous maintenance helps reduce downtime, improve workplace safety, and foster collaboration between operators and maintenance teams.
