Summary of Position:

Hyundai Transys Georgia Seating System, LLC is seeking a Quality Engineer responsible for managing supplier quality and laboratory quality activities to ensure product quality, compliance with customer requirements, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes. This role focuses on supplier quality management, incoming parts quality control, and laboratory testing management in alignment with automotive industry standards. The Quality Engineer will work closely with suppliers and internal crossโ€‘functional teams to resolve quality issues, improve supplier performance, and maintain high quality standards.

Main responsibility
Supplier Quality

  • Monitor and Manage KPIs: Track and manage Parts Quality KPIs to ensure full compliance with internal and customer quality targets.
  • Performance Management: Drive supplier quality performance and lead continuous improvement initiatives with the supply base.
  • Claim Management: Handle OS&D (Overage, Shortage & Damage) and quality claims, coordinating robust corrective actions with suppliers.
  • Material Control: Manage nonโ€‘conforming and quarantine materials to prevent production disruptions and ensure "zero-defect" flow.
  • Inspection Standards: Establish and maintain incoming inspection standards, including AQL plans, boundary samples, and clear inspection criteria.
  • Reporting: Develop and maintain standardized inspection reports for rigorous incoming parts quality control.
  • PPAP Management: Review and approve supplier PPAP submissions in strict accordance with internal and customer requirements.
  • Engineer change Control (4M): Manage supplier 4M changes (Man, Machine, Material, Method) to ensure proper validation, approval, and traceability.
  • Supplier Audit: Conduct process audits and lead supplier quality performance meetings.
  • Scorecards: Maintain supplier performance evaluations and updated quality scorecards.

Laboratory Quality

  • Testing Execution: Plan and execute product performance and durability tests (current scope and future expansions).
  • Equipment Management: Manage calibration and preventive maintenance schedules for all measurement and testing equipment.
  • MSA Studies: Perform Gage R&R studies; analyze data and prepare comprehensive reports to ensure measurement reliability.
  • System Validation: Conduct regular Process Tester and Tool Validation to ensure the integrity of production inspection systems.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze test data and translate technical results into actionable quality improvements.


Support responsibility
Quality Systems

  • QMS Maintenance: Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards.
  • Standardization: Develop and standardize quality documentation, work instructions, and procedures.

Skill and knowledge required:

  • Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Technical Plus: Experience in welding, stamping, sewing, plastic, and polyol injection is highly preferred.
  • Experience: 3+ years in Quality Engineering (Supplier or Manufacturing) within the automotive industry.
  • Standards: Expertise in IATF 16949 and Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, and FMEA).
  • Problem Solving: Proficiency in structured methodologies such as 8D, 5 Phase, or Drill Deep & Wide root cause analysis.
  • Technical Literacy: Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD strong application of measurement system concepts.
  • Data Proficiency: Strong analytical skills with mastery of MS Office (specifically Excel) and statistical software.
  • Communication: Strong collaboration skills in English (written and verbal) to work effectively with crossโ€‘functional teams.
  • Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and problemโ€‘solving capability in a high-pressure manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a Tier 1 automotive supplier environment supporting OEM customers
  • Experience with supplier quality development and supplier audits
  • Certification or training in Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) or other continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience supporting APQP activities and new product launches (NPI)
  • Familiarity with IATF 16949 internal audit processes
  • Experience working with automotive seating systems, interior components, as plus.
  • Bilingual (Spanish / English) to effectively collaborate with suppliers as plus.



Travel Requirements


  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required to support supplier audits and on-site inspections.
  • Travel primarily includes visits to supplier facilities located in the United States and Mexico.

Position Requirements and Qualifications

  • Must have at least 1 year experience working in an automotive manufacturing environment as a Quality Engineer.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Industrial, Material, Chemical, etc.)
