Job description

Under general supervision, this position provides quality control and inspection for welded automotive parts.


  • Visually inspect the quality of incoming automotive prototype weld parts
  • Read and interpret various Honda-specific standards and guidelines
  • Interact and communicate with Honda associates and possibly suppliers
  • Create inspection reports, check lists, spreadsheets, etc

  • Education and/or experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control programs (e.g.: Six Sigma; QS9000; etc.) with an emphasis on direct visual inspection of physical automotive parts with an emphasis on weld parts
  • AWS Certified Weld Inspector certification required
  • Experience with metallurgy and fabrication processes
  • Experience and training with steel and aluminum weld parts inspection (e.g.: good/bad welds), weld stampings (e.g.: deformities), weld part dimensions (e.g.: CMM data) and general overall weld specifications (e.g.: mig/tig)
  • Experience in problem analysis, investigation and report documentation
  • Experience reading blueprints or drawings2D & 3D. CAD/Catia
  • Ability to read and interpret CMM data
  • Ability to physically handle and lift parts (30-50 pounds)
  • 1 -3 years’ experience in Welding Inspector role
  • Working knowledge of various basic measurement instruments (calipers, micrometers, scales, gages, inspection fixtures, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of the metric system
  • Excellent math skills
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Lotus Notes applications. SAP or other MRP based systems

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Routine exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, mandatory hearing protection and safety shoes
