Job description

Overview
Big O Automotive Technicians diagnose, recommend and perform automotive repairs in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with all company programs, policies, and procedures. Big O Automotive Technicians are titled based on ASE or equivalent certification:
Automotive Technician A - 4 or More ASE Certifications
Automotive Technician B - 1-3 ASE Certifications
Automotive Technician C - No ASE Certifications

Responsibilities
  • Perform all brake, front end and alignment maintenance as well as mechanical work in accordance with all company programs, policies, and procedures
  • Properly diagnose and repair all customers' vehicles, performing quality control of all shop functions
  • Train and coach other employees in accordance with all company programs, policies and procedures as directed
  • Maintain the orderly flow of customer service assignment to ensure productivity
  • Extend Big O's Extra Care Services to all customers
  • Attend weekly store meetings to review safety issues, store policies, procedures, and product information changes as required
  • Work with store management to ensure the successful accomplishment of budgeted service-related quotas
  • Ensure that all appropriate information for completed work is given to the counter personnel for inclusion in final invoicing
  • Utilize the company outside purchase program to ensure maximum profitability
  • Timely complete daily Today's Class Technician and other required training
  • Ensure the consistent execution of the vehicle inspection program
  • Achieve established service, sales and productivity goals
  • Assist in the organizing, documenting, and processing of all adjustments and core credits
  • All MFA Oil employees are expected to know and adhere to company and position specific policies and procedures. While this job description contains the primary duties of the position, employees may be expected to perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a lube/tire/service technician
  • Current Motor Vehicle Inspection License (for Missouri based stores)
  • Ability to learn new concepts and use technical materials
  • Ability to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery
  • Ability to safely operate automatic and manual transmission vehicles
  • Ability to exchange accurate information with customers
  • Ability and willingness to work with hazardous materials
  • Ability to consistently work in outdoor weather conditions
  • Ability and willingness to comply with Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) regulations
  • Vision, hearing, speech, and the ability to detect odors
  • Ability to move and position self to move and retrieve product and supplies from shelves, under counters, or stacks of inventory weighing 75 pounds
  • Valid driver's license
  • Availability to work holidays, weekends, and after regular business hours as needed
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language to communicate with customers, coworkers, and supervisors
  • Ability to meet company requirements including successful pre-employment screenings
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States of America
