Pay: $30.80/hour
We are seeking a Torque Security Calibration Engineer to join an automotive engineering team supporting vehicle calibration, validation, and functional safety testing. This is an outstanding opportunity for a recent engineering graduate or early-career engineer with a genuine passion for automobiles and hands-on vehicle work.
In this role, you'll work alongside experienced calibration engineers performing real-world vehicle testing, inducing system failures, validating safety responses, and helping develop world-class torque security calibrations for both traditional gasoline engines and electrified powertrain systems.

Responsibilities
- Support vehicle calibration and functional safety validation testing.
- Perform hands-on testing of development vehicles.
- Execute validation test plans to verify vehicle system performance.
- Induce sensor and system failures to confirm safe vehicle operation.
- Assist with calibration development for powertrain and vehicle control systems.
- Analyze large sets of engine and vehicle calibration data.
- Generate reports documenting test results and program status.
- Troubleshoot calibration and software-related issues.
- Work with breakout harnesses, diagnostic equipment, and test instrumentation.
- Coordinate vehicle updates and repairs with shop personnel.
- Collaborate with powertrain, controls, vehicle, and engineering teams.
- Participate in technical meetings, issue resolution, and cross-functional discussions.
- Support launch readiness and validation activities.
- Operate development vehicles at proving grounds and other test locations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related STEM field
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Aerospace Engineering
- Automotive Engineering
- Or similar engineering discipline
- 0–3 years of engineering experience.
- Strong recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrated hands-on automotive experience through one or more of the following:
- Personal vehicle projects
- Automotive hobbies
- SAE/FSAE participation
- Automotive clubs or competitions
- Automotive internships or co-ops
- Strong passion for vehicles and automotive engineering.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Willingness to perform hands-on vehicle testing and troubleshooting.
- Flexibility to work overtime, evenings, and occasional weekends during critical testing periods.
- Ability to travel approximately 4–6 weeks throughout the year.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with MATLAB and/or Simulink.
- Calibration or controls engineering experience.
- Functional safety knowledge.
- Powertrain or vehicle controls experience.
- Familiarity with engine management systems or electric propulsion.
- Experience collecting and analyzing vehicle or engine test data.
- Understanding of OBD systems and automotive diagnostics.
Travel
This role includes travel throughout the year to support validation and verification activities. Potential testing locations include:
- Colorado
- Arizona
- Houghton, Michigan (Cold Weather Testing)
Travel typically totals 4–6 weeks annually, with company vehicles provided during testing events.
Work Environment
- Approximately 80–90% of the work is performed at an automotive proving grounds in Chelsea, MI.
- Primarily first-shift schedule.
- Occasional work at additional engineering and testing facilities as needed.
- Hands-on work performed both in engineering offices and inside development vehicles.
