Product Analyst I - Automation

Job description

Product Analyst I – Automation

Locations: Highlands Ranch, CO (preferred) or Jacksonville, FL

We exist to transform our customers and change lives.

About This Role

As the Product Analyst for Automation, you will join a small, collaborative team working at the edge of warehouse and manufacturing technology — supporting the development of RF-SMART's Automation product suite and learning what it takes to bring complex software solutions to life. You'll work alongside product, engineering, services, and sales teams to help analyze business challenges, document requirements, validate what gets built, and create the training and resources that help everyone around you succeed.

This is an early-career role designed for someone who is technically curious, eager to grow, and ready to contribute from day one. For the right person, it's also a launchpad — with a clear path into a Jr. Solutions Architect role where you'll move from supporting the product to designing and implementing it for customers.

What You'll Do

  • Research and analyze customer needs, market trends, and product signals to surface insights that inform product decisions and keep the Automation roadmap grounded in real-world challenges
  • Partner with stakeholders across product, engineering, and services to understand requirements and help translate them into clear, actionable documentation the team can build from
  • Support the documentation of product requirements as user stories and acceptance criteria, giving development teams the context and clarity they need to execute effectively
  • Own product documentation and training assets — including LMS content, presentations, and reference guides — so internal and external teams can learn, support, and represent Automation capabilities with confidence
  • Design and deliver training curriculum for Sales, Services, Support, and Solution Consultants that builds real fluency in what Automation products do and how they solve customer problems
  • Perform functional QA testing on newly developed features to verify they meet intended objectives before reaching customers
  • Grow into the internal subject matter expert on RF-SMART's Automation product suite as your knowledge deepens, supporting internal stakeholders and contributing to pre-sales conversations

What You Need to Bring

  • Strong technical aptitude — you're naturally drawn to understanding how things work and you don't wait to be shown before you start figuring it out
  • A problem-solving mindset — you can take a business challenge and think through what a workable software solution might look like, even without a complete picture
  • Foundational knowledge in software development — whether through coursework, a bootcamp, personal projects, or on-the-job experience
  • Genuine curiosity about AI tools and a habit of actually using them to work smarter — not just awareness that they exist
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills — you can write clearly for different audiences and explain a technical concept in plain language
  • A self-starter attitude — you take ownership of your work, follow through, and don't need someone looking over your shoulder to stay on track
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites during implementation phases as needed (up to 10%)

What Would Set You Apart

  • Experience or coursework in a Business Analyst or technical consulting-adjacent role — even in an internship or academic setting
  • Familiarity with ERP systems — NetSuite, Oracle Cloud, Microsoft Dynamics, or JD Edwards — even at a foundational level
  • Working knowledge of warehouse operations: how goods move through a facility from receiving to shipping — putaway, picking, packing, inventory management, or replenishment
  • Exposure to automation technologies such as Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS), conveyor systems, or other material handling equipment
  • Basic programming literacy in C#, JavaScript, or SQL — enough to read code, write a simple query, or follow a technical discussion
  • A degree or certification in IT, Computer Science, Supply Chain, or a related field — though equivalent hands-on experience is just as welcome

Growth Path

This role is built to grow. As you develop deep product knowledge and customer understanding, you'll have a clear path into a Jr. Solutions Architect role — moving from supporting what gets built to collaborating on the design and implementation of Automation solutions for customers. If the idea of going from analyst to architect energizes you, this is how you get there.

Why RF-SMART

RF-SMART has been delivering supply chain software solutions for over 40 years — and we've built a culture where people genuinely want to stay. Our 94% employee retention rate reflects an environment where growth is real, teammates have each other's backs, and the work connects to something meaningful.
On a small team, your contributions are visible early. You won't spend your first year in the background — you'll be working alongside experienced teammates on a product that's actively evolving, with real opportunities to learn and make an impact from the start.
We're an Equal Opportunity Employer and are committed to building a team where everyone feels they belong, regardless of background, identity, or where you're coming from.

The Selection Process

Our interview process is designed to be conversational and give you a real feel for our team and product. It typically includes an initial screening, conversations with the hiring manager and team members, and a chance to demonstrate your analytical and problem-solving approach. We move with intention — thorough but respectful of your time.
