Maintenance Engineer Intern
Job Description Summary
The Engineering Intern will support the Engineering team in the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of building systems and equipment. Working alongside experienced technicians and engineering leadership, the intern will gain hands-on exposure to commercial building operations, preventive maintenance, and facility management best practices. Based on business needs and the intern's experience level, they may also lead or contribute to a special project focused on process improvement, operational efficiency, or building systems.Job Description
Knowledge and Experience
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to support a variety of engineering and maintenance activities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while providing excellent customer service.
  • Interest in building operations, facilities management, and mechanical systems.
Principal Responsibilities
  • Receive work assignments, prioritize tasks, and obtain the necessary tools, equipment, and materials to complete work efficiently.
  • Complete assigned work orders, preventive maintenance activities, and required documentation accurately and on time.
  • Perform or assist with preventive maintenance inspections and services in accordance with established maintenance programs.
  • Respond to tenant service requests and complete repairs while maintaining accurate maintenance records.
  • Maintain daily logs of maintenance activities, inspections, and operational events.
  • Communicate building conditions, operational status, and maintenance issues to the appropriate stakeholders, escalating concerns as needed.
  • Help maintain the overall appearance, safety, and operational efficiency of the property.
  • Build positive relationships with tenants through proactive communication, timely follow-up, and exceptional customer service.
  • Gain exposure to and assist with the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, including HVAC equipment and building automation/control systems.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting of MEP and HVAC systems under the guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Review construction drawings and support project coordination activities.
  • Assist with asset tagging initiatives and the implementation of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), including preventive maintenance database updates.

The compensation for the position is: $21.25 - $25.00
