Job description

Performs skilled work at the journey-level in the installation, repair, and maintenance of complex air-conditioning, heating, air balancing, and refrigeration equipment. Services, troubleshoots, and adjusts diverse equipment ranging from chilled water and low-temperature systems to high-volume units while operating computerized building automation systems to calibrate controls and monitor data. Ensures all completed tasks adhere to fire, safety, and building codes as well as quality and timeliness standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following:
  • Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification, supplemented by completion of a two (2) year technical/vocational Air Conditioning (A/C) and Refrigeration program; minimum of four (4) years of experience in industrial/commercial A/C and Refrigeration,

OR
  • Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification and completion of a four (4) year apprenticeship program in A/C and Refrigeration; minimum of two (2) years of experience in industrial/commercial A/C and Refrigeration.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
The selected candidate for this position MUST:
  • Obtain Universal Certification in Transition and Recovery of Refrigerants within six (6) months of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Preferred qualifications include:
  • Experience working with chiller plants,
  • Experience operating building automation systems and computerized controls,
  • Knowledge of building pressurization, filtration water intrusion, and air balancing and hydronic balancing, and
  • Experience using hand tools, and welding and soldering equipment.
