The Automatic Door Technician

The Automatic Door Technician plays a vital role in installing, maintaining, and repairing automatic door systems to ensure they operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. This position requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service.

The ideal candidate approaches each day with a positive mindset, works well within a team, and takes pride in professionalism and craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in alignment with the company's Culture, Purpose, Mission, and Values.
  • Maintain and promote a strong culture of safety on all job sites.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Install, maintain, and repair automatic doors, operators, and related hardware systems.
  • Ensure all door systems operate safely and comply with AAADM, ANSI, ADA, and applicable local regulations.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues efficiently, striving to complete repairs during the first service visit.
  • Deliver high-quality workmanship that minimizes punch list items and ensures customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate daily activities and priorities with the Sales and Operations Manager.
  • Identify, prepare, and load all required materials for scheduled projects.
  • Confirm delivery and availability of all project materials and supplies at job sites.
  • Organize and stage materials in the shop or on-site to support efficient installation.
  • Follow project plans and schedules to ensure work is completed within established timelines.
  • Monitor installation sequences and adjust to meet general contractor preferences or changing site conditions.
  • Communicate project updates, material needs, and potential issues proactively with team members and leadership.
  • Complete daily TeamUp reports with accurate documentation and progress photos.
  • Maintain clear communication with customers, supervisors, and team members.

What We're Looking For

  • Must set and maintain high safety standards on all job sites and promote a culture of safety. 
  • Solid knowledge of automatic door systems and related components. 
  • Provide timely, professional, and customer-focused service.
  • Ability to work safely with a range of tools and equipment.
  • Reliable attendance with a positive attitude and dedication to producing quality workmanship.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a variety of environments.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record in order to drive company vehicles.
  • Must be able to work out of town and stay overnight as needed.
  • Able to pass a background check and drug screening when requested per company policy.
  • AAADM certification.

Working Conditions and Physical Aspects

This position consists of both working at both ground level and at heights using ladders, scaffolding, and aerial equipment. The nature of our work includes exposure to various weather conditions and active construction sites, which can be noisy and dynamic. The job requires physical fitness for standing long periods, lifting heavy objects regularly, and performing repetitive tasks.
