Ford’s legacy of innovation is about to reach new heights. Imagine being on the ground floor of something truly extraordinary. At BlueOval Battery Park Michigan, we’re not just assembling battery systems; we’re leading a transformation. As a key member of our start-up team, you’ll have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to launch a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility from the ground up. Imagine: you, at the forefront of the electrification movement, helping to bring the next generation of vehicles to driveways, job sites and highways everywhere.

At BlueOval Battery Park Michigan, you will...

• use your entrepreneurial skills and team mindset to come up with data-driven solutions

• build and lead an agile team to deliver the advanced technology that drives the future

• create a culture of trust, encourage diversity of thought and foster leadership in others

• be part of the historic transformation of the automotive industry.

In this position...

The position partners cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, and Suppliers to drive continuous improvement in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Maintenance, and Environment (SQDCPME) performance through data-driven problem solving, standardized work, and operational excellence. Successful candidates must demonstrate strong analytical capability, technical leadership, urgency, adaptability, and a commitment to supporting team and business objectives in a fast-paced manufacturing and launch environment.

Lead and optimize end-to-end MP&L operations leveraging industrial engineering standards, protocols, advanced manufacturing and materials modernization methods, and tools (ie. CAD, Simulation).  Responsible for material flow, inventory storage optimization, engineering change management (ECM), PFEP, labor standards, lean implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted materials manufacturing operations.  Drive/support SQDCPME performance, launch readiness, cost reduction, and operational excellence in a high-volume, highly-automated manufacturing environment.

What You'll do...

  • Lead end-to-end material flow from receiving docks to point-of-use and shipping for direct and indirect materials. Design and optimize lean material delivery systems (line-side delivery, supermarkets, kitting, sequencing).  Manage inventory strategy and PFEP (Plan for Every Part) including storage, flow paths, and capacity planning.

  • Own the end-to-end Engineering Change Management & Control (ECM/ECC) process for MP&L, ensuring alignment with plant and corporate change management systems.  Lead cross-functional coordination (Engineering, Purchasing, Suppliers, Operations) for all part, supplier, and process changes. Develop and execute change readiness plans (inventory burn-down, phase-in/phase-out, cutover timing, obsolescence mitigation).

  • Establish and track ECM KPIs (change accuracy, timing adherence, inventory exposure, disruption incidents). Standardize and continuously improve ECM processes, governance, and escalation routines. Ensure data integrity for material master, BOM, routing, and inventory accuracy.

  • Ensure system readiness (ERP/SAP updates, BOM accuracy, routings, packaging specs, labeling, and traceability requirements).  Drive launch and program integration, ensuring material flow readiness for new programs, engineering changes, and model year transitions.  Identify and mitigate change-related risks (line disruption, premium freight, inventory write-offs, supplier readiness gaps)

  • Analyze and improve material handling methods, equipment utilization, and labor balancing. Conduct cycle time analysis, bottleneck identification, and throughput optimization.      Design plant layouts, flow paths, and material presentation using CAD and simulation tools. Lead ergonomic assessments and workstation design to improve safety and productivity

  • Implement and support automation solutions (AGVs, AMRs, ASRS, smart conveyance)

  • Drive performance improvements through structured problem solving and kaizen. Lead cost savings initiatives, including labor efficiency, inventory reduction, and space optimization.  Apply root cause problem solving (A3, 8D, DMAIC) to eliminate waste and variation

  • Enforce safety standards, ergonomics, and 5S discipline across all material handling operations.  Manage resource planning (labor, equipment, space) to meet production requirements.

  • Strong capability in capacity modeling and constraint-based planning.  Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power BI, simulation tools, and CAD (AutoCAD or similar)

  • Understanding of launch management and program readiness (APQP, PPAP impact to MP&L).  Experience integrating automation with labor strategy (human-machine balance)

  • Candidates must possess full flexibility and willingness to operate in a fast-paced, high-demand environment and a strong commitment to supporting team success during launches and critical business needs.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Engineering-related field

  • 3-5+ years’ experience in an Industrial Engineering role at a manufacturing facility with manual and automated processes.  Automotive or large high-volume manufacturing experience is highly desirable.

  • Strong analytical skills, quick decision-making, ability to work independently, strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proficiency in computer applications (CAD, Microsoft Office)

Even Better, You'll have...

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or another related field

  • Experience in Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV), Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) technology for material handling, and Automated Storage & Retrieval Systems (ASRS)

  • Automotive Battery Manufacturing
