AutoCAD Administrator

Location: Houston, TX (Onsite โ€“ 5 Days per Week)

Job Type: Contract-to-Hire (Target Conversion ~6 Months)

Compensation: $40 - $70/hour

Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision and 401(k) during the contract period. Upon conversion to a full-time employee, this position becomes eligible for medical, dental, health, 401k match, 3% profit sharing, 10-15% annual bonus.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced AutoCAD Administrator to oversee the support, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise engineering applications. This role will serve as the primary resource for AutoCAD administration, software lifecycle management, licensing, user support, and application performance across a technical engineering environment.

The ideal candidate will bring a blend of application administration expertise, strong troubleshooting capabilities, and a customer-focused approach to supporting engineering and design teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain AutoCAD and other engineering software platforms used throughout the organization.
  • Oversee Autodesk licensing activities, including user access management, compliance monitoring, renewals, and utilization tracking.
  • Coordinate software deployments, upgrades, updates, and configuration changes across engineering environments.
  • Investigate and resolve application-related issues while providing timely support to end users.
  • Collaborate with technical teams on workstation, server, and application initiatives impacting engineering software.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource for engineers and designers regarding application functionality and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, configuration standards, and support procedures.
  • Assist with onboarding activities and user training for engineering applications.
  • Validate software updates and new releases prior to production deployment.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and application optimization.
  • Support additional CAD and design tools, including MicroStation and other related platforms.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience administering or supporting AutoCAD environments.
  • Experience managing Autodesk licensing and subscription administration.
  • Hands-on experience implementing, upgrading, patching, and maintaining Autodesk software products.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills supporting engineering or design application users.
  • Background supporting CAD/engineering applications from an administrative or support perspective rather than solely as a designer or drafter.
  • Ability to prioritize work independently and operate with minimal oversight.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and stakeholder support skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting MicroStation environments.
  • Exposure to a broader suite of Autodesk products.
  • Background supporting engineering organizations within industrial, construction, manufacturing, utilities, energy, or consulting environments.
  • Experience supporting large groups of engineering and design users.
  • Knowledge of application governance, standards development, and documentation practices.
  • Familiarity with scripting, automation, software packaging, or deployment technologies.
  • Experience partnering with infrastructure, desktop support, or enterprise application teams.
