Job description

The Construction Administrator serves as the primary liaison between the civil engineering design team and the construction team during project execution. This role oversees construction-phase services on civil infrastructure and site development projects, ensuring work conforms to contract documents, design intent, applicable codes, and project specifications. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who has the ability to do design work, but prefers being in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and respond to RFIs, shop drawings, submittals, and material certifications for conformance with contract documents.
  • Conduct site observations to monitor construction progress and verify compliance with civil plans and specifications; prepare field observation reports.
  • Coordinate with project managers, contractors, owners, inspectors, and regulatory agencies to resolve construction-related issues.
  • Evaluate substitutions, change orders, and design modifications for technical compliance and constructability.
  • Provide technical guidance on civil systems including grading, drainage, utilities, paving, and erosion control.
  • Support project closeout, including punch lists, final inspections, and as-built document coordination.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and correspondence records.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • EIT License in Texas
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in civil engineering, construction administration, or construction management.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, grading plans, utility plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes, permitting requirements, stormwater management, and environmental compliance during construction.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid driver's license required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE license or active pursuit of licensure.
  • Experience with municipal infrastructure, land development, roadway, or utility projects.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, BIM platforms, and EJCDC contract administration procedures.
  • Experience coordinating with public agencies and permitting authorities during construction.
