Job description

Gana-A'Yoo Services Corporation, GSC, is renowned for excellence in delivery, performance and customer satisfaction with a focus on Food Service, Janitorial Services and Administrative Services! GSC supports the National Science Foundation managed United States Antarctic Program as part of the Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) and we are currently seeking a Senior Administrative Coordination for Palmer Station.

As an Administrative Coordinator, Sr. you are responsible for administrative support for Palmer Station. Performs secretarial functions; maintains files and correspondence; handles confidential materials. Acquires and maintains a thorough and current knowledge of applicable ASC policies and procedures.

TITLE: Administrative Coordinator, Sr.

SEASON: Austral Summer (Summer 2026-2027)

LOCATION: Palmer Station, Antarctica

SECTOR/DEPT: Gana-A'Yoo Services Corporation (GSC) Antarctica

WAGE: $810-$921 per week

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interfaces with personnel from the National Science Foundation, Researchers, ASC employees, and other USAP participants by telephone and in person, in a professional and tactful manner.
  • Performs necessary duties to support Station operations, personnel and science support activities.
  • Responsible for providing general administrative support to the Area Manager and other Station personnel as required.
  • Prepares weekly Station report from various work center inputs.
  • Organizes and assigns weekly House Mouse Station cleanup assignments and maintains various sign-up sheets around Station for community tasks.
  • Supports Purchase Requisitioning process as needed. Specifically monitoring Station consumable items.
  • Coordinates and supports tourist operations in conjunction with the Area Manager.
  • Organizes arrangements for incoming and outgoing personnel, including orientation information and redeployment travel requests.
  • Acts as the Finance and HR POC for Station personnel, maintaining regular communications with DHQ support staff. Demonstrates a strong working knowledge of ASC policies and procedures in these areas.
  • Provides assistance, advice, information, and training to employees as required.
  • Participates in community activities to include weekly Station clean-up (GASH/House Mouse), and Sunday Station Watch.
  • Participates on emergency and vessel line handling teams as skills and needs require.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current ServSafe Food Handler certificate must be obtained prior to deployment to Antarctica.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid U.S. Passport

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum three years of office administrative career experience.
  • Basic computer skills with word processing, spreadsheets and databases required.
  • Previous work with Station Services in Antarctica may be accepted in lieu of minimum experience.

OTHER:

  • US citizenship or permanent residency required.
