ABOUT US
Rockhurst High is a Jesuit Catholic, college preparatory school with an enrollment of approximately 860 male students. Founded in 1910, the school strives to serve an economically, socially and geographically diverse student population within the Kansas City metropolitan area. Academic excellence is a trademark of the school as well as a diverse array of successful co-curricular activities and teams.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Audio Visual and Event Coordinator plans, sets up, and operates technical equipment (sound, lighting, video, live streaming) while managing event logistics to ensure seamless execution. They act as the technical liaison for school administrators and faculty as well as clients, troubleshooting issues under pressure, coordinating vendors, and managing AV inventories for conferences, meetings, and live productions. This position reports to the Director of Facility Management. This position is responsible for leadership in areas of responsibility as a liaison between the school and clients and internal offices (Including but not limited to: President, Principal, Philanthropy & Engagement, Admissions, Pastoral, a general Faculty programming, and support of the Theater and Performing Arts programs).
Responsibilities
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Set up and operate audio-visual equipment for live events or virtual events, meetings, and conferences.
  • Master the calendar of events with advanced management and communication with key stakeholders, establishing confidence for the execution of important programming from a variety of event experiences.
  • Coordinate with event organizers to determine specific AV needs and requirements. Ensure all speaker presentations, videos, and media are loaded, tested, and ready on time
  • Manage and train faculty and student crews and facilitate labor of these crew members in setup, focusing, programming, and operation of AV equipment.
  • Ensure proper inventory, maintenance, and functionality of all AV equipment. Responsible for the secure equipment storage locations. Arrange repairs or rentals of any needed AV equipment as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot any technical issues related to AV by identifying and resolving any equipment or signal issues quickly during rehearsals and live events.
  • Manage all accounting including invoices, request for payments, and credit card receipts.

Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
  • Proficiency with soundboards, digital mixing, video editing software, and signal flow.
  • Superb organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with clients and team members.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Strong understanding of sound, lighting, and projection systems.
  • Time management skills to handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Experience with live streaming platforms and technologies.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy AV equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
  • 3-5 years of experience supporting live events or productions.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to perform under pressure.
  • Experience supervising or training crews.
  • Ability to pass required background checks.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage projects with minimal supervision.

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
