Description DEFINITION: Under general supervision, installs, operates, maintains, and troubleshoots audio/visual (A/V) systems and related technologies supporting County operations, public meetings, and events. Provides technical support to ensure reliable delivery of audio, video, and conferencing services across County facilities. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: This is a specialized technical classification responsible for Countywide A/V systems.
Incumbents independently perform installation, operation, and maintenance of A/V equipment and provide live technical support for Board of Supervisors meetings, public hearings, and hybrid meeting environments. This classification differs from the Information Systems Technology Support Technician classifications by its primary emphasis on audiovisual systems, live event support, and control system programming. Incumbents report to the IT Manager or designee.
Example of Duties EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Duties include but are not limited to those described below. Installs, configures, and operates microphones, sound systems, cameras, projectors, displays, and lighting equipment Sets up and supports A/V systems for meetings, public hearings, webinars, and events Operates and supports video conferencing platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex) Provides real-time technical support during live meetings and public events Installs, wires, mounts, and commissions A/V equipment including displays, speakers, cameras, and equipment racks Configures and programs A/V control systems (e.g., Crestron, Extron, AMX) Integrates A/V systems with County network and IT infrastructure Diagnoses and resolves issues related to audio, video, lighting, and control systems Troubleshoots signal flow issues (e.g., HDMI, HDCP, audio routing) Performs preventative maintenance, firmware updates, and system testing Ensures operational readiness of A/V systems in all supported facilities Provides technical assistance to County staff, elected officials, and the public Trains users on operation of A/V and conferencing systems Responds to service requests and incidents in accordance with County standards Provides high-level support for critical public meetings Maintains inventory of A/V equipment and supplies Documents system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps Coordinates with vendors and contractors for installation and repair services Assists with planning and implementation of A/V projects Supports A/V systems used for public meetings in compliance with applicable laws (e.g., Brown Act) Ensures accessibility and reliability of hybrid meeting technologies Provides desktop support assistance as needed

Minimum Qualifications Any combination of education, training and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be: Education: Equivalent to an Associate's degree in Information Technology, Electronics, or a related field Experience: Two (2) years of experience in audiovisual systems support, installation, or live event technology (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis) Special Requirements: 1.
Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid California Driver's License. 2. Travel within and outside of the County as necessary.
3. Qualify for security clearance through a background investigation and fingerprint check. Desirable Qualifications: 1.

Manufacturer certifications (e.g., Crestron, Extron) Knowledge Of/Ability To Knowledge of: and practices of audiovisual systems and event technology; A/V equipment including microphones, speakers, displays, projectors, and control systems; A/V standards and signal flow (e.g., HDMI, HDCP, audio/video routing); video conferencing and hybrid meeting platforms; basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP); industry-standard A/V systems (e.g., Crestron, Extron, QSC, Poly); customer service practices and technical support processes; applicable laws and regulations governing public meetings Ability to: Install, configure, and troubleshoot complex A/V systems; provide effective support during live events with minimal disruption; diagnose technical problems and implement timely solutions; communicate effectively with technical and non-technical users; manage multiple priorities and work under pressure; work independently and collaboratively; maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment; maintain accurate records and documentation; deliver effective customer service in a public sector environment Physical Requirements/Work Environment: Work performed in office, conference rooms, and event environments across multiple County facilities
May include sitting at a desk working with computer equipment for prolonged periods. May require evening, early morning, or weekend work to support meetings and events. May require travel between County locations.

Work at heights using ladders or lifts. Prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, and equipment handling. Disaster Service Workers: All San Benito County employees are designated "Disaster Service Workers" through state and local laws (CA Government Code Sec.
3100-3109 and Emergency Services Chapter 6 via adoption of local Ordinance No. 361 1, 2-25-75). As Disaster Service Workers, all County employees are expected to remain at work, or to report for work as soon as practicable, following significant emergency or disaster.
